End Shark Finning in China NOW!

Im writing this petition in order to end the trade, selling, and preparing of shark fins in China.
Only a small amount of the shark is actually kept. This is done in a process called
finning where the fins of the shark is cut from living sharks.
[34] After the fins have been cut off, the remainder of the fish which is often still-living, is thrown back into the sea.

ocean, the finless shark is unable to swim and sinks to the ocean bottom and dies a slow death.[35]

Due to China's fast-growing economy, shark finning has grown to sickening heights. With the demand of fins increasing, it has a great imapact on the oceanic ecosystem. The way these people obtain their shark fins is just plain right inhumane. The sharks are caught and while still alive, are separated from their fin and let back into the water to sink to the ocean floor and die a slow, horrible, painful death. Some sharks dont even make it that far and are eaten by others in the ocean.
Shark fins are somewhat known for their "nutritional value" and "cancer preventing ingredients" but that is completely untrue. The vitamins in shark fin can be easily topped by eating a can of regular vegetable soup. As for the "cancer preventing", there is no proof of that at all. Shark fins actually contain a high content of mercury and the FDA recommends that children and pregnant women should'nt eat it.
The obtaining of shark fins has put an impact on the population of sharks and now the Sawfish shark is endangered and has to be protected by law. This practice is growing at 5% each year and needs to end now.
I, along with the many below, want you to try to bring an end to this inhumane practice by restricting the illegal trading from Europe and Italy and by making the way these poor creatures are finned illegal.
