Mac, just on this "let's find new jobs for the hunters" I don't think that is a godo idea at all aside from the fact their IQ's are mostly single digits, what these things deserve is life sentences in the nation's most secure jails. Let us not forget that the law has been broken on the ice repeatedly regarding this "hunt". A "hunter" gets a new job in a factory in Alberta say - has a disagreement with the boss/co-worker - all of a sudden out comes a baseball bat with nails sticking out the end he's been hiding in the boot of the car, and said boss or co-worker is bashed nearly unconscious and then skinned alive in front of his horrified colleagues, so it is best if any money from a licence buyback scheme goes to the fishing industry, compensation for the however much lost in seafood boycotts over the years and only a bit goes to the "hunters" to cover legal fees and court costs etc.

We must all fight to save out Earth. How can we began to do this if we are still so backwards, so primitive, that we must torture, skin alive animals for greedy purposes. There are other ways to survive, make money. I cringe everytime I hear of an animal being slaughter somewhere, even here in my own country....because I know we cannot begin to save civilizations and the Earths destruction by mankind....until all humans beings see this too, feel this as well. If you would not want your own mother skinned alive or your own baby, Why then would you do it to beautiful animals that also feel the same pain, the same fear. This is evil and sadistic.

Europe has spoken. If there is no market for luxury furs then there is no justification for continued slaughter. Last time I checked, democracy is about what the majority want not the minority. I am glad the EU ban went ahead, and disheartened that the Inuit naturally got upset, I mean they know what to do, join US in helping to ban the white commercial seal hunt, the EU ban will be lifted, tourists will start returning to Canada en masse, and they will be free to continue their lives in peace.

Please never stop fighting and we will all fight on with you. Thank you. It makes me a proud Canadian to stop this barbaric act that serves no purpose at all. It must be stopped. There is no reason to kill animals for any purpose except for human dominance and greedy means. Someday, we will all think that killing an animal is just like killing a man. I hope for that to happen someday but it is a tremendous victory for Europe to ban seal products, and we will do whales next and all other animals! But thank you Europe for making this happen that will change for a better cause, the seals will love you! Lets keep on fighting for a better world!

Why can't you find some humane way to keep the numbers down? must you club them on the head so the pelts are not destroyed? who else but the fur industry doesn't care seals are bludgeoned as long as they have no holes in them? there should be more education about why these animals are clubbed to death.

From my point of view it cant be accepted by thinking human beings that helpless baby seals are slaughtered. Yes - thats not a hunt, thats a slaughter. Hunting means that the victim has a chance to get away. Baby seals cant escape. They are completly helpless. Pictures show that they are badly hurt by s o called hunters and while they are struggeling in their pain they are skinned alive or their smashed body is thrown on the dead bodies of their friends. Everybody is shocked when kids are hurt by adults because they are so helpless. Baby seals are helpless too, but the canadian government doesnt care. I fully support the Harb Seal Bill and I want the Canadians to stop the massacre.

Canada's infitessimal population of pro-sealing thugs can come up with all the BS they like they are not fooling me (or you) for a second.
