Endorse Three Strikes Reform

Target:
California
The State of California has legislated and initiated a Three Strike Law which allows nonviolent and non-serious offenders to receive 25-to-life sentences or greater in prison.

Such sentences are cruel and unjust; and upheld primarily against the poor and minorities. These draconian sentences for nonviolent and non-serious offenders are increasing the State of California's tax burden by billions of dollars when spending in other areas, such as education and healthcare are in desperate need of increased funding.

Support FACTS' effort to confine the application of the law to violent crimes only, which is what most voters thought would happen when they voted for the law 13 years ago! Support Three Strikes reform by signing our petition.

The state needs to start releasing parolees that are non-violent offenders, not striking them out for stealing a candy bar at 7/11!Our prisons are already overcrowded and are wasting taxpayers money like myself on lots of people who need help not incarceration!

It's important to be fair and impartial when sentencing someone otherwise you're setting a bad example & then Activists like me have to protest. Please stop this madness! Excessive sentencing is an extremist way(hint, hint).

This Law, the way that it is currently written is cruel and unusual punishment. Also needless to say a money pit!

I am tired of such laws that don't work. Focus on education, poverty, and wages is where I want to see our new president take care of. Bush is another hitler and the three strikes law is doing to innocent non-rapping/murder individuals what hitler did to the jews!

THE THREE STRIKES LAW NEEDS TO BE REFORMED OR DONE AWAY WITH.

This Law needs to be abolished completely. Even those charged with Violent Crimes are first time offenses who did no absolutely NO physical harm to anybody. Taking plea bargains to avoid harsher sentences for sitting in the back of a car does NOT constitute being charged with Multiple Strikes. Our Teenagers are stuck in prison with repeat offenders for 1 mistake. This is NOT just. Get rid of the STrikes Law before this country dies in lack of Faith in our system.

WHY ARE WE AS TAX PAYERS PAYING TO KEEP A NON VIOLENT ACT OF CRIME WITH NO SORT OF PHYSICAL ABUSE IN PRISON WHEN WE CAN BE PUTTING VIOLENT AND ABUSIVE AND DOMESTIC VIOLATERS AWAY IT MAKES NO SENCE TO KEEP SOMEONE IN JAIL FOR SOMETHING THEY DIDNT DO...... ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THEN WORDS JUST BECAUSE U THRETIN OR STATE A COMMENT IN WHICH YES WAS WRONG DOES NOT MEAN YOU NEED TO BE WITHELD BY THE GOVERNMENT FROM ALL SOCIETY .....BECAUSE BEING A HUMAN BEING YOU SPEAK WORDS YOU REGRET AND WORDS THAT ARNT ALWAYS TRUE RERHINK THIS ACT BECASUE ITS REDICULOUS

Minimum mandatory sentencing required by law is among the most brutal and unnecessary types of legislation that has come out of the 20th century. The tree strike laws are probably the most illogical, poorly thought out and most unjust examples of these types of law. Put the sentencing options BACK into the hands of the people we have entrusted to hear criminal cases; the judges. Leave the stupid, incredibly inept, backwards thinking and ignorant politicians out of the sentencing game. The people who are most able to look at mitigating circumstances, to consider public safety and to place appropriate and JUST sentences on criminals convicted of crimes are the trial judges who hear them. Get politics out of the sentencing scheme and start looking at what true justice represents; not vengence but the benefit of society as a whole . . including the accused.

This law makes no sense. It takes away hope and makes prisons more violent. i in every 31 people in the US is either in prison, on probation or parole. Its time to stop the madness.
