This petition is to end the suffering of the exotic cats and other animals at "Great Cats of Indiana Sanctuary and Rescue Facility". This site is nothing more than a roadside zoo. The USDA has filed a formal complaint in August 2007, with transgressions dating back as far as SIX YEARS ago (2002). Then a motion to go to hearing was filed in October 2007. Hopefully a petition from concerned animals lovers will persude Secretary Schaefer to take immediate action on this facility, have it shut down, and transport these animals to a cleaner, safer, actual animal sanctuary to live out the rest of their lives in peace. We the undersigned are concerned about ending the suffering of the exotic animals located at "Great Cats of Indiana Sanctuary and Rescue Facility" in Idaville, IN. This site is operating under the guise of a rescue facility, but is nothing more than a roadside zoo.

We understand that the USDA has filed a formal complaint on this facility in August of 2007, with transgressions that date back six years to 2002. Then, a motion to go to hearing was filed in October 2007. It is time to finalize this process and give these animals a life they deserve in a cleaner, safer environment.

We ask that you move forward to revoke Robert Craig and Laura Proper's license to operate, and have this facility destroyed so that it cannot be operational as a roadside zoo again. We ask that the animals be placed in actual, legitimate animal sanctuaries so they may live out their lives in peace.

Thank you for taking immediate action to this cause.

The USDA has filed a formal complaint over a YEAR ago with transgressions dating back to 2002. Why is this pseudo sanctuary still operational?? These animals need to be transported to a clean, safe, actual sanctuary now.

As you may know, there is a dire issue with the "Great Cats of Indiana Sanctuary and Rescue Facility" which has been characterized as nothing more than a roadside attraction that fails miserably to provide addiquate and decent care for the animals at the facility. I urge you to take action on the formal complaint by the USDA which was filed in August of 2007.

Please take action against this dangerous and neglectful so-called 'sanctuary'. There are many other big cat sanctuaries around the country which can take much better care of these cats, and will give them clean, open pens with plenty of fresh food and water and shade. Please help these cats, and punish those who have abused them for far too long.

Taking action to stop the horrible neglect at this facility and many others like it should not be relegated to unimportant compared to issues like the economy or the war in Iraq. The Department of Agriculture must do MUCH more to prevent animal abuse. The kind of abuse that occurs in the exotic animal and farming business should not be occuring in a country like the USA.

It is incredible to me that this disgusting practice is allowed to continue with what amounts to government sanction. What in God's name can politicians be thinking to permit this facility to operate under theses deploreable conditions. I insist that you close down the facility and place the animals in appropriate living conditions. If you have a shred of conscience you will make this a priority.

The USDA has filed a formal complaint on this facility over a YEAR ago with transgressions dating back to 2002. Why is this pseudo sanctuary still operational? These animals need to be transported to a clean, safe, actual sanctuary. Black Pine Animal Park, a USDA licensed facility, a no-breeding/buying/selling sanctuary, adopted a male lion from Great Cats in August 2007. We have photos of his condition and can request a medical report from our veterinarian. In short, he felt the cat would have died very soon if not for being removed from an indoor, filthy habitat and treated for multiple medical problems. Please, listen to the people and DO SOMETHING to stop the continued breeding and abuse. Thank you.

It is terrible that this kind of treatment of animals is allowed to happen at all and certainly should never be allowed to continue after it is widely known.

It is unbelievable that any animal, be they tiger or mouse, should be kept in such a deplorable habitat. These animals need space, clean cages, and a healthy environment. Please don't let these beautiful creatures suffer any longer!

This "sanctuary" is apalling. These animals do not deserve to live in such squalor any more than children do! I am disgusted and sickened and urge you to do whatever you have to, to get this horrible place shut down, and all the animals moved to vastly improved homes. Thank you.
