Federal ban of ownership/importing of exotic animals

Just recently in the news Terry Thompson from Ohio had a private zoo of exotic and local wildlife in his backyard.  Due to unfornuate events these animals were released into the community, endangering the lives of hundreds, perhaps thousands of people.  The easy access and no federal law preventing the sale of exotic animals for the pleasure of a few is maddening.  These people who own  these animals, don't realize not only is it a danger to them, but to everyone around them!  How many more people and animals have to be injured or KILLED, before the  federal government steps in.  Leaving it to each individual state has been misguided and hasn't prevented any of these terrible events from happening.  I wouldn't want my state handing out licenses for lions and bears to my neighbor who lives less than 10 feet from me, because they think it's cool.  Well it's NOT!!

Taken wild animals out the natural habitat is a crime in itself.  But,when people think it's okay to bring the Serengeti to their homes, that's not okay.  All we are doing is destroying the Animal Kingdom, animal by animal.  Conservation, preservation is the answer.  Ownership leads to extinction..  The federal government needs to acts now and put into law a federal BAN on the ownership and importing of exotic animals.  People have them, because our government allows them too.  We let baby lions, tigers, leopards, etc in our ports all the time..  Americans lust to have exotic puts us all at risk of this happening again..

Most civilized countries already have banned the sale of exotic animals..What is our government waiting for someone to have 100 to 200 grizzly bears, tigers, wolves running loose in major populated city and several hundred deaths to occur to do something..  We as nation to take a stand and say enough is enough.. NO,IF'S,AND OR BUTS about.  Let's make this HAPPEN,TOGETHER,TODAY,NOW!!!
