Fight The Rising Gas Prices

Target:
U.S. Government

We the Americans are sick of the rising gas prices. Right now, In America, gas prices are $4.00 - $4.50. Gas is getting so expensive that  people can not afford to drive to work. Yes, people can take buses, but in most rural areas, there are no bus transport systems. What are you, the government doing about this? Nothing. Gas prices keep rising, and we keep losing more and more jobs. If this keeps up, more people will be out of a job then ever before, sending this nation into another depression. We want this to stop and we want it to stop right now! Gas prices a couple years ago were around the $2.20 mark. That's what we want  to see again. We, the Americans, want the government to do something to bring down the price of gas, so we can afford to drive. We want it done, and we want it done NOW!

Things we want changed:
1. We want the importing of fuel from foreign countries to be decreased and over a period of time stopped completely.
2. More government funding for the research of alternative energy sources for vehicles.
3. Government funding for the companies
researching and creating new hybrid vehicles.
4. If possible, a cap on the amount per gallon customers have to pay. Somewhere around $3.00.

I think it's rediculous that oil companies can gouge us this way while making record profits... We have viable alternatives.. it's time we use them and tell the gas companies to take a hike!

Do you really think that we the public do not know that the president and the vice president are making money hand over fist by keeping the gas prices through the roof this is a huge conflict of interest and is in violation of federal law for them to do things that are self serving and not in the best interest of the people and the country for which they are supposedly serving They are Public Servants the articles of impeachment are very clear on this DO YOUR DUTY THAT YOU WERE ELECTED TO DO AND SERVE US AND NOT ONLY BEGIN IMPEACHEMENT PROCEEDINGS BUT FORCE A DECLINATION OF FUEL PRICES AND FORCE THEM TO PAY BACK LIKE YOU DID ONCE BEFORE WHEN THEY PULLED THIS CRAP IN THE 70's

Why can't all the brilliant minds in Congress come up with a plan. How about tell the tree-huggers too bad about their views - off-shore drill. Things can be on the line in 2 years if you hussle. Then make mandate that oil companies put part of their profits to alternative fuels. Make it a goal that we are up and running, as a country, on alternative fuels by 2016. What? NCLB wants all kids on grade level (a LOT less probable) by 2014. This can be done. Drill for now to avoid a complete crash of the economy and mandate alternative fules by 2016. Aleviate the pressure now but keep the main idea insight.

Why are so many people ignoring this, how can they even ignore it? It affects the entire nation! In my area it seems that people don't have much to say about it, maybe I just don't hear them if they do. THAT, is exactly the problem. Not enough is being heard.

I lost my high paying job and had to settle on an annual income of 30% less. Before rising gas prices we were making ends meet with a little money left each month. Now we are having to use credit to pay for gas to get to work which in turn will eventually have us losing our home because we just can't pay the bills. I just heard that StarBucks is closing 600 stores because of gas prices. Can't the government see what effect the gas is having on the economy as a whole. Something needs to be done fast or things are going to get worse for a lot of good people who have always been able to pay their bills on time.

Back in 2006 when gas was selling for around $2.20 a gallon, the federal govt. was collecting $.59 cents/gal. in taxes. How much are they collecting per gallon now?

Bush could bring the price of oil down immediately, just by releasing some of our reserves. That would lower the cost of fuel. The only reason he hasn't nor will not release the reserves is to keep the prices inflated. Besides investing in oil and gas, he has invested into KBR, Halliburton, and Black Water. Since when did a sitting president bet on a war for the purpose of profiting?

The gasoline here is $3.98 per gallon it cost me $45.00 per week to fill up my 13 gallon gas tank. Two years ago when I bought the car it cost $25.00 per week. Crazy!

the gas prices are redicoulosly high and need to go way back down and if it was not for economy down spirals due to the lack of funding alot of the places would not be going out of business and due to the fact of high gas prices it makes it hard for people to geta round and for many it could mean the difference in between life and death so you mean to tell me the president would rather let this issue get out of hand than to do something about it and make it easier for the american people the last time i checked i thought the president was suppose to helpus not hurt us!!!!!!!!

The United States government has loss all respect from hard working, voting, and tax paying American. Our own government has more respect for oil companies who are getting richer every day off our pay checks. Maybe we all of us should stop working all together stay at home and collect wealth fare checks. Maybe that will show them who the real persons in charge is.

I as an american can no longer sit back and do nothing about the rising problems connected with the rise of gas prices. My husband and I work very hard for our family and we do vote. We have not seen a rise in our paychecks to reflect the rise in not only gas but energy and food prices. I have already contacted my states senator to ask for direction on how we can take a stand for our family and the people in our life. So how are we going to fix this?

These high gas prices are ridiculous! It is causing food and other items to escalate in prices. You make it look like you are doing something about gas prices but it is all show and arrogance! What you should be doing is allowing the gas companies to open up and explore in Alaska, and other states plus off the coasts of our Western states and Florida. Cuba and China are going to do so in the gulf. With the technology that we have now it can be done in a responsible way. My husband and I are on a fixed income and it gets harder and harder to budget. I don't think you really care about the little people, it is all politics with you. Take action and do it now!!!

I am a single parent and it was tough enough being able to support myself without the crazy prices that gas is NOW. I am sinking lower and lower because EVERYTHING is rising except my paycheck. I am an educated person with a Master's degree working at a University. I thought I was making a decent living but now I seem to think that is not so. How are middle Americans, the working class, suppose to survive when the economy is imploding?!! Sending work overseas, government backing the corporations and basically putting the burden on working class America will drive America to ruins.

I am a college educated professional who luckily has the support of my family and friends unlike so many people who do not have a job and now with costs of gas prices can't search for one or someone who has had to leave their job because the cost of driving there was more than they were getting paid. This is absolutly unaceptatble!
