On 8th July 2011, Mirchani tigress's two young sub-adult male cubs were captured and are now imprisoned in a cramp cage at Bhopal Zoo, probably to never see their wild territories again.

The brothers are now branded as Man-Eaters. Although not proven, the brothers are believed to be responsible for the killing of a daily worker, Mr Kodi Yadav.  Mr Yadav was on leave at the time and had gone to Hardia camp to collect some bamboo for his personal use. On his way back from the camp he was attacked and his remains were discovered by villagers who went to search for him later the same evening. At around midnight the same day, 3 forest officials arrived on the scene, who were then badly beaten up by the villagers and now the three are seriously ill in hospital.

Whilst it goes without say that our deepest sympathies go to Mr Yadav's family, it cannot be right to capture two healthy young tigers from their forest home and imprison them in a cage in a zoo.

There are questions that the Forest Department have yet to provide answers to. The tigers may well have strayed outside the park boundaries of Bandhavgarh, but why was Mr Yadav wandering alone so close to their territory? Where is the proof that these sub-adults are in actual fact the real killers?  Where is the evidence supporting this?

Help us urge the Indian Authorities to relocate the tigers and not let them languish in a zoo.
We, the undersigned request the Indian Authorities to reconsider the imprisonment of the two young male tigers, known as Mirchani Tigress's sub-adult male cubs at Bhopal Zoo.

Whilst the tigers may have strayed outside of the park's boundaries, there are still too many unanswered questions surrounding this incident. Why was the forest worker wandering alone so close to their territory? Where is the proof that these sub-adults are in actual fact the real killers? Where is the evidence supporting this?

Our deepest sympathies go to the deceased worker's family but it cannot be right to capture two young healthy tigers from their forest home and imprison them in a zoo.

We ask that you consider relocating the youngsters to an alternative reserve such as Panna, where the forest department are already looking to repopulate the reserve with tigers. In a world where the tiger is already endangered, we cannot afford to capture wild tigers and force them to live the rest of their lives in captive misery. We need their contribution to an already dwindling gene pool and the survival of the ecosystem.

The Tiger is India's National Pride. We urge you to make a stand and defend India's Majestic Big Cats like they truly deserve.
