This petition is to bring awareness and demand justice for Ohio prisoner Tony Cioffi. Tony is in fact innocent of the crime of rape and kidnapping, which he was sentenced ten to twenty-five years for in 1996.
Tony was railroaded to Ohio State prison by lies, coercion, and pressure. He was pressured into pleading guilty to a crime he did not commit. He had no understanding on what was happening to him and could not read the statement he plead guilty to.
Because Tony has legal documents and other evidence to prove his innocence, the undersigned demand that the courts review his case and set this innocent man free. The taxpayers of Ohio are paying for the incarceration of an innocent man. Everyone is entitled to a fair trial, but Tony did not receive this.

It's a shame when our judicial system fails it's citizens. A person has a right to a fair trail, and when one isn't presented, the courts should do everything in their power to assure a fair trail is given - even after the fact. Technology, new leads, and new investigators will generally uncover new information and/or new evidence, as well as bringing to light any wrongfully suppressed evidence. We all make mistakes, and this includes our judges, our juries, and our law enforcement officials. However, it's how you correct the mistake that matters the most.

Anytime DNA can prove guilt or innocence, testing should be done willingly and early on. In the case of Tony Cioffi, I do not know if he is innocent or not, but he deserves at least a DNA test. In our limited efforts, we've found far too many innocents in prison to just assume they are all guilty.

I recently was released from the prison that Tony is serving time and I personally spent time with him and I truly believe in his innocence. Tony in my opinion is a very kind man that has made some mistakes like we all do,but not what he is accused of. I believe he was living a carefree life and may have just done things that really upset his former wife to the point of accusing him of these crimes to just get rid of him.I believe that Tony deserves justice and closure.

Enough is enough! People are being put in prison for Molesting or rape everyday when they did not do the crime. Someone out to hurt someone and they get away with it. When they should be jailed and pay for the time that an innocent man/woman has had to pay for what lies put them in for. Free Tony and do the right thing of arresting the ones that caused this for lieing on the stand. To many peoples lives are ruined for this kind of crime. Investigations need to go deeper instead of just lock them up and throw away the key.
