The "pride of Puerto Rico" was a caring family man, & humanitarian, of deep culture & professional integrity. With academy nominations for "Kiss of a Spider Woman," "Moon Over Parador," "The Burning Season" & Shakespeare's "Tempest", Raul was a recognized, yet a somewhat uncelebrated, Hispanic talent. He was a rare breed being a handsome character actor, who's eyes sucked you into such charismatic characters as Victor Frankenstein & Antonio Lopez. He often supported lead roles, helping his co-actors in becoming stars; always preferring to serve the story, & the role, rather than himself (thus making him highly sort after by directors, producers & investors alike). As a stage trained actor, Raul carried a relaxed dignity, yet as a farther, he never took himself too seriously (playing the roles of Gomez Adams & General M. Bison for his children). Sadly Raul passed away during the peak of his popularity, & would have surely continued to bring families together with his charming off-key performances, & if that's not worth a Hollywood star, what exactly is?
