On April 28, 2009, Clearchannel cut
590 jobs as an effort to cut costs due to the current economic situation. It appears that all they were looking at was who earned the most money, because they chose to cut the two most popular DJ's at our local Star 104.3, Mark Andrews and Tricia Kelly.
Mark and Tricia are the heart and soul of Star 104. While all the dj's there are great, removing Mark and Tricia was the business equivalent of giving Star 104 a frontal lobotomy....it took away the strongest personality of Star 104, and in many ways, they have shot themselves in the foot. Without them, listenership will likely fall, and with listenership down, advertising revenue will also fall, so while they have 'saved' money cutting their positions, they have hurt themselves in the long run and likely alienated many of WQNQ's listeners.
We need to let Clearchannel know that we want Mark and Tricia back in their morning slot at Star 104! Please sign this petition and pass it on to other local Asheville Star 104.3 listeners!
We, the undersigned listeners of Star 104.3, WQNQ want to express our dissatisfaction with Clearchannel's decision to terminate Mark Andrews and Tricia Kelly as part of your widespread cutbacks. The morning show will not be the same without them, meaning listenership may faulter. Please consider that these two very popular DJ's drew a lot of us loyal listeners to WQNQ and we will miss them severely. They have been the heart and soul of star 104 and it will not be the same without them.
