Get Elephants Out of the Circus!

A new bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives by Congressman Jim Moran of Virginia essentially seeking to put an end to the use of elephants and other exotic animals in traveling circuses.

This is the first attempt in a decade to stem the torturous traditions of circuses that involve intelligent wild animals such as elephants.

If passed, this would mean that elephants and other animals would not be forced to endure the cruel treatment and harsh conditions that performing animals face every day.

Please urgently ask our US Senators to support this bill. Let them know that circuses are not where these animals belong. It is their right to live out lives of their own in the wild and not be forced into grueling performances under the big top.
We the undersigned are writing to ask that you urgently support a new bill which has been introduced in the House of Representatives by Congressman Jim Moran essentially seeking to put an end to the use of elephants and other exotic animals in traveling circuses.

This is the first attempt in a decade to stem the torturous traditions of circuses and it is long over-due.

Animals have long been forced to endure downright cruel conditions under the big-top and on-the-road traveling from city to city. We have seen countless reports and violations by circuses across the news and we have been horrified by reports on the way these animals have been treated.

Elephants are a keystone species and are extremely social and intelligent animals. They are not fit for a life of performing on-the-road.

Other exotic animals such as tigers, lions and monkeys are also unfit for such conditions. These animals are sentient creatures, each deserving of lives free from the exploitation of circus tents.

Please rally to protect our planet's precious exotic animals and support this bill to prohibit exotic animals in traveling circuses. Once and for all, we must stem this torturous tradition and teach our children about humanity and not exploitation.
