Get Serious about CO2 Leicester!

Leicester City Council needs to act now to reduce Leicester's CO2 emissions, to protect its environment, and to increase local jobs. To do this, Leicester Friends of the Earth are asking the council to get serious about:

Housing

  • Make it easy and affordable for everyone to insulate their homes.

  • Provide personalised information to every household about saving energy.

  • Provide zero interest loans so people can afford to install renewable energy.

Energy

  • Invest more in renewable and low carbon energy in the city.

  • Buy green electricity for all council buildings.

Transport

  • Reduce car journeys.

  • Make cycling and walking easier and safer.

  • Implement a 20mph speed limit on residential roads.

  • Provide bus tickets that can be used on buses run by any bus company.

  • Promote free green driving lessons.

Wildlife

  • Maintain and expand all existing green spaces.

  • Create wildlife habitats.

  • Plant more trees.

Adaptation
  • Provide more land for allotments and community orchards.

  • Adapt buildings and drainage schemes to allow for the effects of climate change.

We, the undersigned, support the measures outlined above and ask Leicester City Council to get serious about CO2.
We, the undersigned, want Leicester City Council to take more action to reduce CO2 emissions by adopting the measures in the Green Manifesto.
