We are fully aware of the Bills which address derivatives oversight and the CFTC. However, all off this will be simple window dressing as long as the CFTC is Chaired by someone who might have a serious conflict of interest. We should learn from history. The CFTC, being an independent agency reportable to the President, is ineffective if the President is not willing to listen to the advice of it's Chairman as did happen during the Clinton administration. Therefore, I am suggesting the CFTC report to both the President and a special committee in the House of Representatives. Another meltdown of our financial institutions constitutes a threat to our national security. Once the processes are in place there will need to be tests administered by an independent agency. We need to make preventing another TARP bailout one of this nations highest priorities.
