I went to an animal shelter in Washington, just to look at the dogs. while I was there, I noticed that on all the pit bull kennels, it was marked that they were not up for adoption. I asked the animal shelter worker what they did with the pit bulls. They said that unless the owner came and picked up thier dog or if a rescue came and got the dog, every one of those pit bulls would be euthanized. I was also (I dont know how correctly) informed that the rescues mostly picked the puppies. If you could just pet them, play with them, and look into these pit bulls eyes, you would know that what this animal shelter is doing is wrong. These pit bulls are doomed without your help. PLEASE HELP GIVE THESE PIT BULLS HOPE.

I can understand that funds are low and the staff probably doesn't have the time to screen potential adopters to ensure that these dogs go to a safe, loving environment. I've been in shelters where "bad" people come in and wanted to adopt these dogs. But, I do NOT understand WHY they aren't even given a chance to go to a reputable rescue. This is a wonderful, loving and loyal breed - they did not ask to be used in such abusive and terrible ways.

pit bulls are loving dogs! my pit is sweeter than my sister's lab! if someone wants to give them a home, then they should! One pit bull here in the Philippine's saved his owner from a cobra. His name was Chief. He died shortly after he killed the cobra (by locking his teeth on the snake's neck and slamming the head several times on the floor) because he was bitten when he used his body as a shield on one of the snake's attempt to attack the owner (87 year old woman).

No dog should have to be put to sleep because of age. And if the only reason these dogs can not be adopted out is because of their breed than this is a sign of stupidity from the shelters. This is why you do temperament tests people. To make sure the dog can be adopted out. My god i am so sick to death of people talking about how these dogs are evil. It is people that are evil dogs are mans best friend.

wow this is terrible i cant believe that they would do that i love pit bulls and i have owned one before and i plan to adopt one soon they are such great dogs some ppl are just ignorant to the fact that they are great sweet dogs i am outraged that this shelter would do that this shelter needs to get new owners or management whoever is running this place needs to be fired there are ppl out there that want to rescue pit bulls and they are putting them to sleep just because of there breed how damn stupid they arent born vicious or mean ppl make them that way what is wrong with ppl today when are ppl going to realize that its the horrible ppl that make them mean not the dog stop this shelter from killing these innocent beautiful sweet loving dogs of course i will sign this its a outrage they are doin this seriously
