Give Marijuana The Same Status As Alcohol & Nicotine

It's been 67 years since New York Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia's commission published its findings that marijuana was nowhere near the demonized claims made against it by Harry J. Anslinger. These findings have not been refuted by anyone since.
According to Bruce Mirken, communications director for the Marijuana Policy Project, the federal government has had a program supplying marijuana to selected recipients since May 10, 1978.
Research supporting marijuana's promotion of positive social bonding has been suppressed. The same is true for research supporting its efficacy as an anti-anger medication.

We, the undersigned, do hereby petition that marijuana be given the same status as alcoholic beverages and nicotine-containing products.
Furthermore, our petition encompasses the levy and collection of all monies legally required by this new status; including sales tax, income tax, licensing fees, tariffs and, where applicable, surcharges passed into law by democratic vote.
