Give The money To The People Not Wall Street.

No to the Bailouts. Give the people the money.
Our economy is based on loans, not on the buying and selling of goods.
When inflation continues to rise and wages are not kept up people start to struggle, get into debt over time. We have caps on how much we can borrow due to income.
That is why these companies are failing, they have no one to sell a loan to!
Tell the government we want the money to pay off our mortgages and give the money to us the people they serve, and are hired to look after our interests. Not corporations from Wall Steet and foreign countries who have gone banrupt.
As President Bush has stated that there will be thousands loosing their jobs  if we don't do this we demand that you give the money to us so that we can survive the recession you state. Since you don't know if this Bailout will work or not.
This our money and we want it.

It is high time that the Government of the People started taking care of it's people. It makes sense to me, give every taxpayer, who it current on their taxes a significant payout. Not the small amounts we have gotten in the past. Make it taxable, then Uncle Sam gets his share still. If we could all pay off our credit cards and other debt we would have more money to buy stuff. Result, economic stimulus! How simple is that!

I think the government should give the money to the people. For one main reason, and that is if you give the money to the people that pay taxes look at all the people that will go right out and spend it all or most of it. That would help every business out there. There are many people that has lost or is about to lose their job they will pay off loans they have, or at least live on it till they find more work. Like you said it is our money and we should have a say in where it goes and that should be the people!!!

if the government were to give me 50 to 100,000 dollars. I would be debt free with exception of a small amount on my primary mortgage. And almost my entire paycheck would be made available for consumer spending and savings.

It seems simple to me. If people could pay their loans, the banks wouldn't be in trouble, would they? If people could pay for their cars, the auto industry wouldn't be belly up, would they? If we put people on the street, the government will have more to pay because we will have to provide housing. Who will that bill go to, the banks? No--the taxpayer. People with low income spend their money, that provides demand, and the big companies get to supply product. That creates jobs. I'm not an economist, but it seems simple to me.

Giving the money to citizens 18+ would be a win-win situation for everyone, and after all, the money for the bail out does belong to the taxpayers. What a boon to the economy for every citizen to receive a payout for mortgages, credit card debt and whatever debts they have....also this would be taxable income so that Uncle Sam gets his share.

Give money to certain loans that help people keep their homes and no directly to these evil companies who are trying to scam people out of their homes! Don't give it to the people to spend as they please and don't give it to companies either. There should be list of people who are about to lose their homes and it should go to save several billion homes and not to be spent freely! These comapnies mabe these bad choices knowing that Bush would bail them out when they fell! So give it to the people to keep their homes! I was smart enough to know that this was going to happen and my college friends laughed at me since I dropped out, but I do OK for myself. Who is laughing now? I am sad to be right!

How is our government going to reduce their huge debt by handing more money over to irresponsible corporations?

The money could be designated to mortgages , foreclosed homes, or the stock market only. The responsible tax payers should get the money. Not the irresponsible companies that made bad decisions.

700 BILLION DOLLARS GIVEN TO THE TAXPAYERS IS THE MOST COMMON SENSE I'VE HEARD...EVER. NOT ONLY WILL MORTGAGES BE PAID OFF, PEOPLE WILL BUY NEW CARS WHICH WILL PUT AUTO WORKERS BACK TO WORK, DUMP MILIONS BACK INTO THE ECONOMY, AND DON'T FORGET WE WOULD BE REQUIRED TO PAY TAX'S ON THE MONEY WE RECIEVE, WHICH PUTS AT LEAST 25% OF THE 700 BILLION BACK INTO UNCLE SAMS POCKET. AMERICANS GOT INTO TROUBLE BORROWING MORE THAN THEY CAN AFFORD, I DON'T FEEL THE BEST SOLUTION TO THE ECONOMY IS BAILING OUT BANKS SO AMERICANS CAN GET EVEN MORE IN DEBT.

giving the people the money would let us pay off our debts, instead of bailing out these companies and leaving all the debt to still be paid

AS ITS THE PEOPLES MONEY THEN IT SHOULD BE THE PEOPLE WHO DECIDE IF THIS BAILOUT GOES AHEAD,NOT CORRUPT GOVERNMENTS AND BIG BUSINESS TO DECIDE,ALSO THE PAYBACK OF THE PEOPLES MONEY,WHEN AND WHAT INTEREST IS TO BE CHARGED TO THEM IN PAYING BACK THE PEOPLES MONEY,THIS BAILOUT SHOULD NOT BE FREE AND THERE SHOULD BE A LIMIT OR TIME CONTROL ON PAYING THE MONEY BACK,ITS THE PEOPLES MONEY AND NOT THE GOVERNMENTS.
