Thank you to all of you who signed this petition, including Mr. John Nugent. Mission Accomplished! I, Lu Highsmith started this petition approximately 3 weeks ago out of love for my husband, Jimmie Highsmith Jr. After attempting to follow proper procedures in submitting 5 different packages(press kits, cd's, bios) over the past eight years to the Rochester International Jazz Festival, I decided to take it to the People, hoping that the directors of the RIJF would take notice. They did!

Thank you kindly,
Lu Highsmith

THE 2009 XEROX ROCHESTER INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL BOOKINGS WERE CLOSED ON FEBRUARY 27, 2009. IF JIMMY OR HIS REPRESENTATIVE WOULD HAVE CONTACTED THE FESTIVAL ASKING FOR A PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY, HE WOULD HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED FOR A BOOKING. SUCH WAS NOT THE CASE. OVER 1,400 GROUPS SUBMITTED OR CALLED TO PERFORM DURING THE SELECTION PROCESS. JOHN NUGENT DOES NOT BOOK ARTISTS USING EXTRA SENSORY PERCEPTION. COMMUNICATIONS MUST TAKE PLACE TO SECURE A BOOKING JIMMY'S A FANTASTIC SAX PLAYER AND DESERVES A GIG, NO QUESTION, BUT HE OR SOMEONE WHO BOOKS HIS CONCERT DATES NEEDS TO CONTACT ME DIRECTLY IN ORDER TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN. PERHAPS IN 2010. PLEASE STOP THIS PETITION, JIMMY. IT'S RIDICULOUS. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU PROMOTE AN ARTIST. JUST PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL THE PRODUCER FOR GOODNESS SAKES. IT'S TOO LATE FOR THIS YEAR AS THE PROGRAM HAS BEEN CLOSED LONG AGO. JOHN NUGENT PRODUCER/ARTISTIC DIRECTOR XEROX ROCHESTER INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL 14 FRANKLIN ST. #808 ROCHESTER NY 14604

Dear Sirs, I believe the Rochester-based International Jazz Festival would be incomplete without the addition of Mr. Jimmie Highsmith, Jr. Please consider adding him to your lineup. Respectfully, Lisa R. Wall

I've known Chit (Jimmie) for years via music production (Roc Music Group) and as a close friend. He should have been featured on the very first RIJF. He's more than just a talent in this town...he's a living legend in the jazz world of things. He's more than just a talent, he's what the epedimy of music in this town is. Love ya, Chit. Let's make it happen!!!

Jimmie Highsmith would be a tremendous addition to the Rochester International Jazz Fest. His level of skill and talent easily matches that of the performers on the line up. It would also be a sense of pride to have Rochester represented by such a magnificent artist. How blessed is Rochester to have him. Please put him on the schedule.

I have seen Jimmie perform throughout the region and it would be nice to see him perform again. He is personable and .... the fact that Rochester's very own resident will be playing in the Jazz festival could inspire local youth to be a jazz musician.......POSITIVE IMPACT

Jimmie Highsmith is a stellar sax player and talented musician overall. He is the epitome of jazz in Rochester from Smooth Jazz to R&B to Latin and much more, Jimmie plays it all. Most importantly, he gives back to this community by engaging young adults and children in the love of music. He also shares his love of music by teaching children to appreciate the art. Give Jimmie a shot!

He would be an asset to the event and a local one at that. Big mistake if you don't get him he has a lot of fans local and outside of Rochester. He has always been in the jazz scene in Rochester, except for RIJF that is so unfair to the people who are not from this area and maybe have never had a chance to see him perform live.

Jimmie Jr is one of the best Jazz clarinet players I have ever listened to. He has played with some of the biggest names in the national Jazz communitiy. It is a shame that he has never played at the RIJF. Charles Inglis

Jimmie is a Rochester treasure and is highly respected by well known local and national musicians and recording artists. His absence from the RIJF lineup deprives RIJF attendees of the pure enjoyment that Jimmie brings to a stage and deprives Mr. Highsmith of the recognition he richly deserves.

I feel that Jimmie Highsmith Jr. needs to be a part of RIJF because he is such an integral part of our jazz scene right here as well as traveling all over (Atlanta,Ga)etc.to share his music. His unique style needs to be included in this festival on a yearly basis.
