The backbone, throbbing heart and feet on the ground of any religious practitioner cannot be anything else than love and compassion; the wish to bring happiness to others and to relieve their suffering. Whether one longs for God, for the splendor of Nirvana or just to be a good human being trying to fulfill the promise of his or her life, the measure of success is to be found in the eyes and smile of the other. It is my wish that we all can meet one day without fear of weapons, strife or competition, but with a genuine urge to look deeply into each other.
