Global Veg Climate Actions 2009

Dear President Obama,

We rely on your wise decisions to overcome many critical issues we are facing. GLOBAL WARMING may sound very remote to you, but its impact on everyone's daily life, the local and global economies, and all of the critical issues you are handling every day, such as fires, floods, drought, food shortage, water pollution, plagues, climate changes, sky-climbing health care cost, economic downhill, and so on, is tremendous.

We are asking for your attention to this ONE-FOR-ALL SOLUTION. 

Per a recent recalculation, LIVESTOCK produces over 50% of the world's total greenhouse gas emissions, more than the world's total transportation combined.

METHANE, a gas primarily produced by livestock, is 72 times more potent than CO2. But it is a short-lived gas that we can eliminate it quickly to curb global warming. 

VEGANISM is the number one solution for a sustainable world since it can dramatically reduce the damage resulted from the meat industry. Green technology is the second.

STOPPING MEAT CONSUMPTION can cool the planet faster than "Low Coal" or "No Coal". Thus, we can buy time for the maturation of green technologies and successfully replace current technologies.

GOVERNMENT POLICIES have to change to support this time-pressing issue:

-          STOP MEAT CONSUMPTION: The Belgian city of Ghent is the first in the world to go vegetarian at least once a week.  We can do it, too, and better.

-          STOP THE SUBSIDIZATION of the meat industry: It makes no sense to fund the industry that is accelerating global warming by producing the majority of the harmful gases.

-          START SUBSIDIZING organic farming: Make organic foods affordable for everyone thus facilitate a fast switch to a plant-based diet.

-          PROTECT OUR RIGHTS TO ORGANIC FOOD:  Stop the lobbying in H.R. 875, S. 425 and similar bills,  H.R. 759 and H.R. 2749. Food policy should benefit resident%u2019s health, not any legal entity's profit or control.

ORGANIC VEGANS can save the world.
