Give Federal Endangered Species Protections to the Wolverine.
The Fish and Wildlife Service has refused to give wolverines, protections under the Endangered Species Act. With only 300 wolverines remaining in the wild, it is crucial that ESA protection be extended to the wolverine which is now extinct from the lower 48. Sign this petition to ask Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar to do his job, stop kowtowing to loggers, developers and criminal oil companies like BP and extend ESA protections to the wolverine!
We the undersigned are concerned that the Fish and Wildlife Service has refused to give ESA protections to the wolverine. With only 300 of them remaining in the wild it seems a little absurd to give the wolverine a "warranted but precluded" status. Wolverines have a low reproductive rate and global warming is further affecting the survival of the wolverine, which needs 8-10 feet of snowpack for its dens. We urge the Fish and Wildlife Service to reconsider its position and give wolverines the crucial protections that they deserve.
