GOVERNOR DEAN FOR SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES!

Dear President Obama:

We know that a Presidential Cabinet is comprised of the best and brightest in their areas of expertise, and now, our country watches as you select numerous qualified individuals for various posts.

It therefore seems inappropriate to overlook Governor Howard Dean.  As Governor of Vermont for 11 years, Dean created innovations in health care, consistently balanced the budget in a small state with limited revenue, and maintained high standards of environmental protections.

As Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Governor Dean implemented a 50-state approach to campaigning that was hugely influential in stemming the tide from a Republican-controlled Congress to a Democratic-controlled one.

As you have personally noted, his own presidential run established campaign strategies that helped your own campaign considerably.

Governor Dean's unwavering dedication and contribution to maintaining a sensible, bipartisan climate in government, his ability to see the big picture, his pragmatism and ability to out-perform leaders with a politics-as-usual mentality, his personal warmth and irrepressible energy would seem to make him ideally suited for a Cabinet post in your administration.

While Governor Dean has announced that he will now share his insights with well-intentioned leaders around the world, this comes at a clear cost to the U.S.

Adding to his many other accomplishments, Governor Dean is a well-respected physician.

Therefore, we respectfully urge you to select Governor Howard Dean for Secretary of Health and Human Services.
We the undersigned, strongly view Governor Howard Dean as the very best choice for Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Thank you for your time and consideration.  We wish you the very best.

Respectfully submitted.
