Keep Shameful Ex-Gay Leaflets Out of Schools!

As the teens of Albert Einstein High School in Rockville, Maryland brought home report cards to be signed by guardians, families discovered a shocking leaflet promoting Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays, an organization that touts the message that homosexuality is completely a choice.

The leaflet reads, "Every year thousands of people with unwanted same-sex attractions make the personal decision to leave a gay identity through nonjudgmental environments or their own initiative."

It continues to state that psychological associations have found no proof that a person can be born gay.

Though the leaflet attempts an eerie message of tolerance in their blatant discrimination, this promotion of shame should not permeate an educational environment.

However, the school claims it was not their decision to distribute such leaflets.

Under a previous case that ruled it was discriminatory to not hand out literature from an evangelical non-profit, the school must dispense all non-profit leaflets.

Tell Governor Martin O'Malley to repeal this ruling so that children will not be forced to feel shame.

We the undersigned would like to express our concern with the law that forces Montgomery County Public Schools to distribute all information given to them by non-profits.

The recent distribution of Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays was an example of how this can negatively affect teens and children in an educational environment.

The leaflet promotes shame and an obvious agenda that should not be allowed in an environment where children should only feel acceptance.

We ask you to repeal this law so that Rockville children will not be ignored.

Thank you for taking our concerns into serious consideration.
