Shameful examples of so called animal care offered by
Florina, Drama Kastoria Lamina and Larissa Municipalities in Greece.Featured below are a few of the squalid conditions present in large prosperous Greek municipalities have the gall to call these animal shelters.....Abandoned dumped and discarded stray dogs incarcerated in disease ridden hell holes with no medical care, no sterilisation and little food or fresh water provision.
Hungry, sick, diseased and dying animals left without care.
Puppies continue to be born amongst this filth they are often attacked by other dogs bitten and sometimes eaten......
These animals have no chance of adoption - once incarcerated they rarely if ever get out. These places have been been built far away from the towns and cities. Responsibilities for maintenance care and welfare and are conveniently forgotten -
out of sight out of mind.Stray animals have little chance of survival on the streets.

I therefore extend the call for dramatic impovements to the abysmal shelters in Lamina and Larissa where conditions are equally as deplorable.

We the undersigned Call upon the relevant police authorities to charge and prosecute those responsible within these municipalities for gross neglect, suffering and cruelty to animals in their charge .
We call upon Public prosecutors and the Greek Justice Minister to rise to the growing demands of concerned people and proceed with prosecutions for these crimes in line with and specified in Greek Animal Welfare Laws.
We call upon the Municipalities themselves to immediately remedy these disgusting situations.
To instigate veterinary care for the sick animals confined in their care.
To provide food and fresh water and daily care and management.
To provide clean and decent facilities for sterilisation and vaccination.
To promote and offer adoption facilities and to call upon their own communities to take responsibility for the stray animal situation which increases as result of continued total lack of their care or concern.
We call upon the Greek Government to implement the changes promised.
To inform educate and promote animal responsibility and care in this country, and to rigorously enforce the law for those that continue to cause animal suffering abuse and neglect.
