I have lived here for two years now and have seen some dreadful mistreatment of animals. Not all greeks are the same though, some really do take care of them who ever they belong to.we have taken in three stray dogs and two cats and just cant cope with anymore. what ur organisation is doing is a good thing and u have my full support.

I am Greek and yes there is a problem with animal abuse in my country, but all the people are not the same! I know millions of Greeks who care and help animals with all their power ,trying to overshadow the bad activity some monsters do. We just need a little help by the authorities. We can't stand alone even if we do our best

I was reduced to tears by the state of the donkeys in Santorini. Please, please, please do something to help them, this is not treating them fairly and they do not have a voice and cannot speak. But it is hot and they deserve better facilities.

One day I wish i can gain some sort of super power and just kill all these people who treat animals as garbage :/ These things happens everywhere, just couple weeks ago some ppl broke in one of the animal shelter here, tortured and killed nearly all the animals in there, left many people heart broke... it's pretty ironic how I found your website from searching 'cute kitties' in google image... this has to stop.. and i'm glad ppl are doing something about it

I have just returned from holiday in Greece, probably my 10th. I and so many of my fellow tourists made the same comment - we love the country but hate the way Greeks = in every other respect a fabulous people - seem to treat their animals. I believe it was Aristotle who said you can tell everything about a country by the way it treats its animals - please stop this cruelty now.

I love Greece but the way SOME Greeks treat their animals is absolutely disgusting. I've seen this first hand but when challenged they just laugh in your face. There are people there who give up a lot of time (and money) to help stop this but it's not enough. Wake up Greece - Turkey has better animal welfare than you.

The way a country treats its animals is a direct reflection on it's people and government. Greece needs to wake up and take responsibility by punishing Animal Rights violators and publicly villifying offenders. Thus deterring Animal cruelty and encouraging, educating animal stewardship.

How can this be allowed in the EU to continue? While this cannot be changed overnight, it has to be addressed now to allow any kind of programme to take effect and provide these animals, all of them, to what is their right, a decent life (and very quick and painless death in the case of farm animals for consumption). Shame on you Greece, and any other country that deems it THEIR right to take away something that isnt theirs in the first place. Life.

Me and some friends werde planning a holiday in Greece. We cancelled it, because I won't support matreatment of animals. As long as Greece won't apply the AR laws, I won't visit the country or consume any greek products.

There are people willing to help out animals in distress, all you need is to help setup a fund and having the right persons working for the organization. Also some tv commercials would not hurt anyone to help out the animals and improve the economy by showing to tourists that Greece has a place in its heart for the poor creatures.

I am appalled to hear how animals are treated in Greece. I would not visit Greece as I have no wish to visit a country that so blatantly allows such horrific abuse and neglect of its animals.

The Greek government should be ashamed. How a society treats its animals reflects the people of that country, and I am totally disappointed that the Greek government does not realize how this matter does affect tourism within the country. I used to vacation in the Greek islands, but now I am boycotting vacations there until the government does something about this issue!

Greece needs to step into the 21st century, it's animal welfare is apalling. It's disturbing to know there are so many sick and evil people living there who abuse dogs and cats and the the authorities simply do nothing. I for one, would never want to visit Greece!

Greece is beautiful but the people from Greece have no emotions for their animals.. That's so disturbd!! I hate them for that.

I have recently returned from a week's holiday on the island of Skiathos. Although the island is beautiful, I was shocked and appauled to see how dogs and cats, domesticated animals, are expected to fend for themselves, without access to regular food and water, the basic requirements of life. I spent most of my week feeding a litter of 6 beautiful kittens and a beautiful little dog which was so thin you could see every rib in it's body. The sad thing was that these animals were not strays but belonged to a Greek family who appeared to have no regard for these animals. I have always loved Greece and not hesitated to recommend a holiday there to my friends and family but I would not do this anymore and would not go on holiday there again. I think the Greek authorities need to wake up, as members of the EU to this appauling abuse of helpless animals and do something about it. I know I will be doing everything I can in future to highlight this problem to anyone thinking of coming to Greece, which I hope has some impact, even if small on, tourism to the area. I will also be looking to highlight this problem with other authorities and agencies, that can put more pressure on the Greek authorities to do some thing about this. It is a sad indictment when tourists have to look out for the welfare of animals in country which is supposed to be a civilised country and a member of the EU. It is disgraceful and I think all those charities who are now helping these wonderful animals are angels.
