We, the undersigned, urge Mayor Bloomberg and the City of New York, to reinstate the ferry service at the 69th St. Veteran's Memorial Pier in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.
By bringing the 69th Street ferry service back, you will also be providing the needed ridership to support ferry service at the 58th St. Pier in Sunset Park. We urge the City to provide the necessary citywide subsidies for ferry service, so that ALL citizens -- but particularly those in neighborhoods that are underserved by current methods of transportation -- may use ferry service as a viable means of transportation.
We hope to see action by the NYC government towards ferry service and more sustainable transportation options for New Yorkers.

I am pushing for an alternative option to commute to my job in Manhattan. The express bus is too expensive and we need another choice from the crowded rush hour R/N trains.

I will be moving to Brooklyn in the next few months. I am very concerned about environmental impacts of current transportation and this is a viable means of reducing pollution and increasing efficiency!

My wife and I are considering moving our young family to Bay Ridge. The area has much to offer except efficient transportation options to Manhattan. Ferry service would be an important attraction for us as well as other young families looking for better commuting options.

Getting back the 69th Street Pier ferry would be especially benefical to Bay Ridge residents because, unlike Bensonhurst residents who have the great express bus service of the X28, Bay Ridge residents have the disgraceful service of the X27 (I waited 40 minutes last night for a bus to get home!)

As a native New Yorker it would be great to know that ferry service was available again in NYC. It would ease traffic congestion, and offer another option for commuters. Reinstate ferry service, and more sustainable transportation choices.

Ferry service would greatly improve my commute into Manhattan and also would add a new vitality to the 69th Street Pier and the greenway. Even more people would be able to enjoy our beautiful Waterfront which the city recently improved.

Having the ferry service will greatly reduce the traffic across bridges since those motorists will free up space on those highways. In addition to the less traffic across bridges, it may actually save gas, since vehicles will not be sitting idle in bumper to bumper traffic, making everyone's commute less of a headache.

We need to think long term and transportation that does not use cars is best for everyone. If it is there people will use it.

the ferry is a good mode of transportation for many individuals. This can increase the number of job opportunities in both areas and make travel more convienient

Increased transportation options are clearly needed. The amount of people commuting/traveling was already nearing capacity of the transportation system BEFORE this ferry service was removed. By removing it, it is only making transportation more congested. The 69th Street ferry service should be brought back.

STATEN ISLAND (shitand dieland)= they just do stuff their own way and as you can see they delete more transportation options than they add. Examples, the Staten Island to Brooklyn ferry, the north shore railroad in Staten Island. The never finished Korean War Veterans parkway. Also dont forget that the MTA starting builing river tubes in the south ferry area in Manhatten that were supposed to connect the train lines to staten island. Guess what! Staten Island people said they want to keep the trash out, so they didnt allow MTA to bring it to a reality. Bring back the ferrys in all bouroughs, but lets not forget how long the Staten Island ferry takes to get across. Keep in mind that trains move alot faster through those river tubes than ferrys. If you take a train from Brooklyn to Manhatten think about it, you almost blink your eyes and you already crossed the water. Either way, NYC needs to do alot of things to make traveling better.
