Ground, Can, or Bin? - Help get recycling bins in Central Florida's Public Parks

Ground, Can, or Bin? - Help get recycling bins in Central Florida's Public Parks

Target:
The Central Florida County Seats

                We have started a petition.

What for, you ask? No, not shorter school days or five star school lunches. We want to see recycling bins in our public parks.

Picture this... You are walking on a beautiful summer day, enjoying the Florida sun. You step on something and you look down. It's a water bottle and you have stopped rite next to a garbage can. This has happened to everyone as some time. Whether it be a water bottle or a soda can or even a newspaper. We have all seen trash in places it shouldn't be.

Now after you get past this fact of life as we know it, think of this. Even if the item is in the trash can and not on the ground, Where does it go? What happens next? It goes into a land fill, gets dumped there and then gets covered with grasses left to rot and omit harmful gasses.

If we took all of the trash that was thrown away but it was able to be recycled our landfills would fill a lot less slowly. We wouldn't need as many. That same water bottle, that same soda can and that same newspaper could have been reused, could have been RECYCLED! We have the technology to recycle. But we do not use it to its full potential. If we can, why don't we? Why not help to save our planet.

For those of you who are reading this and thinking, "This doesn't affect me" or "I will be long gone before any of this comes into drastic effect." You may be rite; it may take a long time to affect you. However, it will affect your children, your grandchildren, their children and so on. It affects the future. The future could come down to where you put your used water bottle. On the ground, in a trash can, or in a recycling bin? It's your choice. The future is in your hands.

sign our petition and get recycling bins into our public parks. Take this article and show it to your family and friends. E-mail the link, to the petition, to all your contacts. Post this page in your coffee or break room at work. Put it up on a community bulletin board. Spread the Word!

                Thank you

My children are cub scouts, and we have the program "LEAVE NO TRACE". When they were first introduced to it they started collecting all kinds of trash left behind in parking lots, parks, and anywhere else they happened to be by. They are aware of the impact leaving these items anywhere has; thus it would be a great next step to be able to deposit these items in recyclable containers that would be reused without hurting our environment. As a mother of 3, I want to do anything in my power to maintain a clean earth that my children and their children will be able to enjoy. Thank you. Jocely

I would like them not only in parks but malls where recycling can be abundant. Also, the city could pick up from HOA clubhouses, which they currently do not.

I love this petition and I think that it shouldn't stop at schools. Malls, movie theaters, stores like Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, Costco, and Sam's should have recycling bins for the public too. Sincerely, Nicky

This should also be instituted in all schools, on school campuses, at stadiums, and at businesses.

Our county should be taking the lead by doing this already! It's a shame that this requires 10,000 signatures just for the parks. That doesn't even address the schools. We are so far behind other countries in this aspect. Way to go, Tori!

Invest in reusable carry bags that you can keep in your car for use when you go to the store for groceries or any item that will fit into the bag.

I found this website in search of how to get recycle bin put into my school, John Overton High School. I don't understand how a school, filled with papers, plastic bottles, and other recyclable goods could be lacking recycle bins. How else are kids supposed to learn about the importance of recycling if there place of education doesn't even support it?

We need to do a part in saving our enviroment. Children are not aware and there should be education about this is schools. It is so disappointing seeing my fellow classmates not do anything. We dont want to live in hell!
