Halal Food Labelling

Halal Food Labelling

Target:
We need 10000 signitures

Asalamalaikum,

There are approximately 1.5 billion Muslims in the world today.

There are more Muslims (53 Million) residing in Europe than there are vegetarians. Most food products suitable for vegetarians are labelled. Almost all the food products suitable for Muslims are not labelled halal.

We are requesting the major food supermarkets to ask their suppliers to label food that is suitable for muslims to be labelled with the halal kite mark.

We require at least 10000 signitures so show your support today...Jazatallahkhair.

Thank You.

I would like to have a halal mark on the food as that would give a lot of surety and security for a food consumer when having food, when there can be an international Kosher mark then why cant there be an Halal Mark

We are not even sure about the foods we are presently buying even though they have the vegetarian sign how do we know they are suitable for muslims. Also one day we are told places like macdonalds and greggs are okay to eat from then we are told they are not. How do we know for sure?

Muslims and Jews differ in their dietery habits and they definitely make up a huge part of the European and American population. Labelling a food product as "Halal" or "Kosher" will not cost much and would benifit millions of people. Besides, approaching the matter from a business point of view, it can only help boost sales rather than the other way round..so why not?

So many time I go shopping and fish products are halal and some are not because they will have alcohol or rennet or gelatine in it. It would be easier for me to see a halal kite mark rather than having to read all the ingredients,it would be easier for children and elderly, recently I have been made aware that some companies like Walkers crisp use small amounts of alcohol in their crisp, which is not even in the ingredients list. If these companies were halal approved and had a halal kite mark I am sure it would increase their profits and be a postive boost to their business. Other companies like Tahira claim they are halal but have not been approved by the halal authority. I would also like to take this opportunity to commmend Kellogs who already have an halal approved stamp from the halal authority on appropriate products. Many cereal, breads, cakes, biscuit which you would think as halal have none halal ingredients like animal deratives and artifical preservatives.

I agree. Alothough all products have suitable for vegeterians or not...some things that are veggie friendly are not halal. So for there to be a sign would be much more efficient and we may be able to buy other products too!

I say if the Jewish people are very strict with Kosher which the muslims can eat if there is no halal food available then both should have the right to have the Kite label & any other Jewish symbol for Kosher. I strongly urge the Supermarkets to advise their suppliers to start putting the kite symbol on halal products A.S.A.P. Thanks for your co-operation in this very important matter.
