Halifax condemning pets to death !

Hi there,

I've been shocked by news which I received this morning and am desperate for help and support with this matter. Facebook group 'Help Save Sally'.

I have a current policy with Halifax pet insurance which is covered by BDML Connect Ltd - policy number HBO0051418/002

Halifax complaints - 0845 850 0265
BDML - 0844 335 0398

My Name Chris Law, pet name Sally, address 11 Mclaren Terrace, Stirling, FK7 0HG.

My pet Sally is an 11 year old Dalmatian and I have had this policy running continually for 10 years. I have kept the same policy running as Sallys health has been unpredictable and if any new policies are created with another company, they will not cover pre existing conditions.

Sallys was admitted to the emergency vet hospital in Sept 2011 with cardiac heart failure. She was stabilised over a period of 3 days and had extensive input from the consultant cardiologist. She was discharged home with the advice that the treatment was time limited and she was palliative, however the extensive medication could continue for as long as she was comfortable, at a cost of around £200 per month. The cost for the emergency admission was around £2500.

To my shock and horror, I've been contacted by a rep from BDML Connect this morning, 21/10/11, stating Halifax have decided to stop all pet insurance policies and will no longer be providing cover, with effect from when my current policy expires on 18th Nov 2011. They then stated, here's a quote for a new insurance policy with Petwise health insurance which will gladly take on new customers, however ANY pre existing conditions will NOT be covered. I immediately stated this is unacceptable and logged a complaint with management of BDML and Halifax pet insurance. They stated their complaints procedure may lead to ombudsman however they have the right to cancel all policies.

I find it shockingly unacceptable to be left in this position, as after 10 years of loyalty with one company, I have been left in this position. Any cover with another pet insurance company, including this alternative which I have been offered will not cover any pre existing conditions. New cover for my poor pet Sally, who is reaching the end of her life, with a palliative condition, will be useless. I cannot accept that due to my loyalty with one company, I have been left in this position. At the age of my pet, she has had practically every illness possible so everything for her will be pre existing. My current mortgage, banking, loans and previous business banking are all with Halifax and I am disgusted at this treatment.

The cardiologist has stated Sally will deteriorate and may need numerous emergency admissions, and alterations with her medication. I am unsure how I will be able to afford such treatment.

Please help me with advice, and I am happy to be involved in publicizing this matter as I must have an insurance alternative which will cover Sallys pre existing conditions so I can keep my precious girl going.
