Currently the UFC is barred from having any events in certain States in the US and Provinces in Canada.  Certain laws state that while boxing and kickboxing are both legal.

MMA is deemed an illegal act. Statistics show that deaths in boxing FAR outnumber those in MMA.

If health is not an issue, we really think that MMA should be in play for all of Hardcore Country.

WE have no boundaries and neither should MMA.

This petition has no limits and neither should MMA. We will help move the cause forward to lift the ban in all states and provinces.

Specific Information Regarding the Ontario Debate:
With UFC 83 set for Quebec, it is believed that Ontario would also be a ideal site for a future MMA event and specifically a UFC event. Below you will be able to read and find out WHY this is currently not possible.

--- Section 83 of the Canadian Criminal Code, which deems "prize fighting" as being illegal, with this exception:

established by or under the authority of the legislature of a province for the control of sport within the province, shall be deemed not to be a prize fight."

THIS HAS BEEN A LONG TIME COMING WITH UFC EVENTS HUGELY SUCCESSFUL IN MONTREAL AND AN UPCOMING 2010 SHOW TO COME IN VANCOUVER. Not to mention the passion much of ontario shares for the sport of MMA! Who would have thought competing in sports was not one of our civil liberties. The country of Canada as a whole needs to ......embrace the Economic Power House MMA is and reap the benifets. This has to be accomplished on a nationwide scale to stop the segragation of our right to sport. Granting only certain provinces the rights to these social benifits and "(Tangeble) Economic stimulis" is simply UN-CANADIAN

if you want to inject money into the local economy this is a huge way to do it. Projected numbers peg a UFC event at 50 million dollars in economic spin-offs.

this sport and i do mean sport is preformed by professionaly trained instructers and fighters. It always was. From the first UFC to the current champions, the gentelmen that have held the titles have trained since they were young children. Sure you had the bar room brawlers that enter the sport like a "Tank" Abbot, but his one sided skills were never enough for a professionally trained fighter. From the Gracies to the Shamrocks to Matt Hughes to Anderson Silva, all these champions have trained in martial arts (Ju jitsu, Karate, greco/roman wresting, etc) which all base their mantras on respect and self defence.I have always enjoyed boxing, I respect their skills and determination; But lets face it, if there isn't a fight night at Casino Rama there is no professional boxing in Ontario; The only reason that there is fighting allowed there is because it on Native Canadian land, which is fine with me.But i can't remember another professional boxing event held in the province of Ontario, other then at Casino Rama. I do believe that boxing is a sanctioned sport, is it not? A UFC event can generate millions of dollars for a local economy. that means Hotel rooms for a weekend, resturants, bars, retail stores, local attractions In closing If the State of Navada deems this sport safe and it is there business to stage fight in Las Vegas and other cities in ther state then why can't Ontario's policy makers see that. Thank you.
