HARDCORE SPORTS RADIO WANTS UFC IN ONTARIO

Target:
MMA Enthusiasts, UFC Fans and all Hardcore Sports Fans

Why do we need your signature?

Currently the UFC is barred from having any events in certain States in the US and Provinces in Canada.  Certain laws state that while boxing and kickboxing are both legal.

MMA is deemed an illegal act. Statistics show that deaths in boxing FAR outnumber those in MMA.

If health is not an issue, we really think that MMA should be in play for all of Hardcore Country.

WE have no boundaries and neither should MMA.

This petition has no limits and neither should MMA. We will help move the cause forward to lift the ban in all states and provinces.

Specific Information Regarding the Ontario Debate:
With UFC 83 set for Quebec, it is believed that Ontario would also be a ideal site for a future MMA event and specifically a UFC event. Below you will be able to read and find out WHY this is currently not possible.

--- Section 83 of the Canadian Criminal Code, which deems "prize fighting" as being illegal, with this exception:

"A boxing contest between amateur sportsmen, where the contestants wear boxing gloves of  not less than one hundred and 40 grams each in mass, or any boxing contest held with the permission or under the authority of an athletic board or commission or similar body

established by or under the authority of the legislature of a province for the control of sport within the province, shall be deemed not to be a prize fight."

I believe that selling OUR game to the United States has, for the most part, been a miserable failure...they just don't get it and they don't like any game where they don't/can't dominate...Mr. Bettman continues to push his mandate of U.S. team expansion over the desires of Canadian fans...I would like to add that the traditionally non-hockey U.S. teams that are successful (Carolina comes to mind) are welcome, but from now on let's take the failing franchises in the non-hockey markets down there and return them to the hot fan-bases back in Canada!!!

We absolutely love this sport and the only reason why mma isn't sprouting exponentially in all forms up here is because there is still so many out of date laws forbiding it from doing so....bring it out from underground and who knows how many GSP's we can develop for the future.

Ken is hiding behind the Canadian Criminal Code. If it's a Federal law, why do other Provinces such as Quebec and Alberta allow it? I wish we can elect a new commissioner.

There is no reason whatsoever for MMA to be illegal in this province, beyond willful ignorance and false beliefs held by the people in charge.
