Have Obama invite the Dixie Chicks to the Whte House

Target:
US and Canadian Citizens

Obama and the Dixie Chicks had the courage to oppose the Bush sponsored War in Iraq when it was not a very popular stand. The Dixie Chicks are a symbol of womans courage for peaceful non violence. Having them to the White House by President Obama to play at his Inagural would be a marvelous turn of events.

I am for the Chicks doing a concert at the White House. And all the Republican Senators can purchase a ticket if they want to attend.

HBO might be the better Place to approach, for a Capital Mall 4th of July Celebration & Concert with the Chicks. HBO footed the bill & Produced for the all-Star Concert on the Sunday before the Inaugural at the Lincoln Memorial. I Noticed that Chick's Best Friend Cheryl Crow was in the Line-up. I would look forward to a Chicks/Obama Event this Year. J.E. Silverton, Blue-Oregon. ( Chicks-Rock Chicks-Rule ! )

What the Dixie Chicks have been forced to endure as a result of exercising their patriotic rights to free speech should be an embarrassment to all Americans. Should all Americans have lost their incomes as a result of standing up to this war this point would be much clearer. How shameful that we HAD a President who actually condoned and encouraged such pettiness. 3 young women had the courage to speak the truth and their country punished them for it. All while liars and thieves plundered our treasury and sacrificed our young men and women while profiting off of it. Not one person in this shameful administration maintained a modicum of the dixie Chick's integrity or courage, and that will be remembered. Those of us who have suffered silently alongside these brave young women will see to that. God Bless you Natalie, Emily and Martie! Keep making your amazing music! Our country needs you! P*E*A*C*E*

Coming from the South and believing in God. I'm so thankful that God has created people like the Dixie Chicks. I think God himself is proud that we can articulate peace not hate. I would be so proud to see them singing at the Inarguration. I do not believe in division our country has been going. I think we are all children of God. We must preach of peace not hate.

These artists were among the very, very few who stood up -- at risk to their own careers -- and resisted the rush to settle the Bush family debt. And Texans at that! They should be honored at the Inaugural as models for civic duty and evidence of free-thinking in Texas! ...Mike Douglass ('exan, Poolesville MD)

The Dixie Chicks showed American what happens when you spoke your mind under George Bush's rule and right wing radio. Their appearance at the inauguration would be a symbolic symbol that the American people VOTED for a return to the democratic principle of free speech that our country was founded on.

It is indeed a time for Change, and it wasn't just the US hoping for an Obama victory and a return to the democratic principles and practices America was founded upon. We all did, and a Chicks' appearance at the inauguration would be a great symbolic symbol that the times really are a'changin!

I've loved the Chicks and their music for a long time. After Natalie spoke out, they got derailed without just cause. I realize that they may not want to be associated to anything political, but I strongly believe that we are in new beginnings. To invite the Chicks to perform at the inauguration, and if they were to accept the invitation, I believe would help in taking a step towards unitiny.

I think that President-Elect Obama should invite the Dixie Chicks to the White House following his inauguration. They, Natalie especially, have been ardent supporters of his campaign and tireless defenders of our First Amendment right to Freedom of Expression.

President Obama..... what a treat it would be to invite the Dixie Chicks to perform at your inauguration. "Yes We Can" show that free speech is still a right for all Americans and a performance by this magnificent trio of singers/musicians would be the first step towards reconciliation.
# 62:
3:19 pm PST, Nov 5, Mark Cooper, California
Mr. President-Elect, please consider inviting the Dixie Chicks to perform at one of the inaugural balls in January. They are victims of the ill feelings and polarization created by the policies of the last eight years. One way to unite this nation would be to not only invite the Dixie Chicks, but to invite Toby Keith to perform with them. Thanks for listening.
# 61:
2:42 pm PST, Nov 5, Name not displayed, New Mexico
President Obama, it would be a great gesture to invite the Dixie Chicks to perform at your inauguration. They were threatened and victimized for exercising their right to free speech. Inviting them to your inauguration would be a chance for reconciliation and peace.

The Dixie Chicks were a victim of the right wing smear machine for simply exercising their right to free speech. It would be a great gesture of reconciliation if you could have the Dixie Chicks to the White House or even to perform at the inauguration.
# 56:

The Chicks spoke out for millions of Americans and got slapped down like the rest of us. Now it's time for our voices to sing out for the freedom we were denied for eight years.

It is not just that the Dixie Chicks represent feminisim they represent freethinkers. the fact that they wwere so severely attacked for their opinions of Bush by Bush supporters gives evidence to how huge was the dysfunction of the people and their leadership. Yes it would be a healing thing to see them play at the White House. A validation of a shift in consciousness.
