Helena, Montana to Begin Killing Mule Deer

The city of Helena has voted to go ahead with the killing of Mule Deer within it's city, even though it had been shot down by the Fish Wildlife and Parks last September. Many people with concerns over their gardens protested and so a "pilot" program was instilled to kill 50 deer this fall.
They plan to lure deer in with food, trap them and then kill them. Allowing any fawns to go free. These fawns still need their mothers and the terror they will endure is heartbreaking. There are other ways of dealing with the deer over population in our city. Our tax money is going to fund this endeavor. Why not use those same tax dollars and purchase a vaccine called Sprayvac. Sprayvac is a vaccine that has been proven effective and far more humane! Once shot into a Doe, it will render her sterile and a single dose will last several years, making it practical and economical. It would lessen the population and we would not be subjected to the horrors of deer being slaughtered before our eyes!
Also, there was a banquet held within the city last year, stating that something must be done to help the dwindling Mule Deer population. The mule deer are the exact ones that they are going to be killing!! Couldn't they simply use the money that they are putting forth to kill these innocent deer and dart the deer, relocating them to the areas where the deer ARE disappearing?
We are asking everyone who feels this is as wrong as us, to please sign this petition, so that we may pass it on to the city officials and hope that they will reconsider killing these innocent deer and consider a more humane way of dealing with them!

Killing the deer is the easy way out and is disgusting. We waste so much money on ridiculous things but we can't put money into relocating these deer whose home we came to after them. They are scarce in some areas and instead we just kill them. We have an over population of humans in many areas so should we just hire someone to shoot them?

It is not legal for us normal people to feed the wildlife so now you want to feed them just to kill them that makes no since! If people are worried about their gardens then tell them to put up high fences or move out of Montana because the wildlife is what makes people want to come to Montana!

We humans sure made hell on earth for our fellow inhabitants. Some people are obviously still so ignorant, that they believe they have the right to kill animals, in order to serve themselves. I often feel ashamed of being a part of the human race. Someday mankind will look back at his meat eating, animal abusing, and animal killing ancestors, with discust and disrespect. Someday, man will not even understand, how the human race was ever this ignorant and primitive. Cruelty to animals, in any way or form, has got to stop, So all who feel empathy towards animals and believe they have the right to live their lives. Stop eating meat, stop buying fur, stop buying products that has been tested on animals.. Stop buying, and thereby supporting, ANYTHING that has caused pain or death to an animal.. Educate yourself about the ways animals suffer because of humans, and make the changes in order to end the suffering of our animals, around the world..

Exceptions made during the regular hunting season to allow hunters to harvest more antler-less deer (dry does without fawns) would be more appropriate and ethical than trapping and killing indiscriminate deer. Also, is killing 50 deer really going to assuage the problem here? Let's be realistic! Go back to the root of the problem: too much housing development for humans taking away deer habitat and food supplies, and too many hunting restrictions by private land owners in the area!!!

This is so senseless, people need to remember that they, the deer were here first, we all moved into their territory. Somewhere along the way all the people who wanted to live in the west and enjoy nature (or so they said) have gotten their priorities all messed up. We love the deer, we had triplets born in our back yard a couple of years ago and we are totally against this senseless act to cruelty.
