Schapelle Corby, dying in Bali Jail. Help Bring her Home!
Recently declared insane by an eniment Australian psychiatrist, the Australian Government stands by and does nothing. The Indonesian Courts sentenced this young Australian woman to 20 years for importation of 4.2kg of marijuana. Despite pleading by the defendant to have the drugs DNA tested, her baggage weighed and the bags fingerprinted, the trial went ahead without testing of this crucial evidence. This evidence would have set her free.
She was not given her rights to a fair trial under the laws of Indonesia or by international conventions.
This petition to the Prime Minister of Australia is designed in the hope that diplomatic intervention will help in securing Schapelle Corby's release and return to Australia for proper psychiatric care. The psychiatrist has said that failure of the government to repatriate her will result in her dying in prison in Bali.

Dear Mr. Rudd
We, the undersigned, mandate you to address the incarceration of Ms Schapelle Corby for 20 years in a Bali Jail and the circumstances surrounding her trial.
Whether the young woman was guilty or not, the manner in which the trial was conducted, should have resulted in her immediate release with no conviction recorded against her name.
You would be aware that the defendant was denied the basic right of any court of law, anywhere in the world, to have the evidence tested - in this case, to establish the country in which it was grown.". If that turned out to be Bali it would have meant an automatic dismissal of the charge. Our previous Foreign Minister actually stated that it was possible that the drugs had been placed in her bag in Bali. We heard no further mention of that distinct possibility.
If DNA testing had found that the drugs were from Australia, further testing would have revealed the dna profile of anyone who had handled the product from their hair or dander samples in the package.
You are probably also aware that Ms Corby has a copy of her written statement requesting this testing be done along with fingerprinting of the original plastic bag. Yet these requests were denied by the court and the prosecution.
The AFP was told by the Bali Police that their help was not required. The AFP should have insisted on testing the drugs as an Australian citizen had been accused of exporting drugs from Australia to Indonesia. This would have been a trans national crime requiring a full investigation to establish the complete details. That was never done.
There are many eminent Australian jurors who have declared that Corby would not have been convicted in any court in Australia on the evidence used and the refusal by both the court and the prosecutor to allow DNA and fingerprint testing.
Before this case is brought before the United Nations Human Rights Committee, we urge you to work on a diplomatic solution to bring Ms Corby home a free woman instead of suffering the indignity of existing in the squalor of a third world prison, with no hope of ever becoming a mother and seeing her own children playing happily around her home.
The Indonesian people who have left Schapelle to rot in jail will face God one day. How can they sleep peacefully I don't know?
Please bring this Poor girl home to her family where she belongs as she has paid enough for a crime we beleive she didn't do.

It is written into the Australian Constituation that every citizen MUST keep their elected representative informed of their will, so they can then "act on the will of the people" unlike J.Howards idea of a "Mandate" to do whatever he wanted. If EVERY Australian sent an Australia Post registered Will Letter to the PM or ANY elected member of Parliment, they MUST, by the laws of this country, answer your letter and also act upon it. There is even provision to incur a penalty if we citizens do not do this. to date not one person in Australia has ever been fined for not doing so but the act is still there. Politicians must by law act on the will of the people they represent and if we all kept them informed by this method they would have no choice. Petitions are worthless in terms of legal weight and while a politician would be crazy NOT to act on a million signature petition, but they have no legal obligation as they do with a "Will letter". I wish to note my support for Ms Corby as someone who cares about all individuals, regardless of where they are from. I hope that the Australian government appreciates the strength of my feelings on the matter. I feel very strongly that Ms Corby is a victim of a dreadful injustice. As I understand it, her sentence is disproportionately high when compared to other drugs-related crimes in Indonesia and many aspects of what happened were very questionable. However, I am particularly concerned to read that her condition in jail has deteriorated and her health is suffering to such a degree. She has been there for nearly five years now and the situation has definitely taken its toll. Regardless of what has happened before, I think that she has suffered enough and that her family too have suffered enough in supporting her from overseas. I understand that Australia has great facilities for caring for people in her situation and I think it would help her greatly if she could be in a familiar environment and closer to family and friends. It would also help ease the burden on her family. It is my hope that she can be repatriated to Australia soon. I am writing to encourage the Australian government to make any and all representations to Indonesia to ensure she comes home as soon as possible and to support her in her any request for clemency on these grounds. If you are sincerely a "Christian"(as you describe yourself), you will bend over backwards for this young woman. I am NOT a Christian, but a humanist and I would crawl on my hands and knees, as a humanist, to get Ms Corby back into Australia to serve her sentence. I am a Federal Public Defender. The Shapelle´s Case is an absurd. The Judges are supposed to obey Bangalore´s principles. From the HBO´s documentary and a quickly view at the internet they did not.

Shapelle Corby is a victim of the press and Bali is giving her an example, bec. we rule the country, now you. I'ts very political what they are doing, they are punishing an innocent victim who was frameup. Do you think she's mad enough to carry that bag, which was switch to marijuana, nobody of that beauty and innocence will carry a door to hell. We are Christian country in Aust. we have to act and follow the grace of God. Bring her home, let her follow Christ way, have kids and live a normal life. She's is kind and polite, a beauty student fell into the victim of Bali smugglers, can you not see if you had given bribes, she could have been out. Those officials are waiting for bribes, not exchange. if the gov't will offer some donation to Bali, she would have been home by now.
