This website is created to support GSD petition in the meaning of improve peoples knowledge and impression about what we are trying to reach by this petition. Petition is meant to be sent to the leading dog organizations that we could change the breed standard of GSDs topline and angulation parts. Sliding back does not belong to service dogs because breed meant to be working should be as working and functional as possible (form follows the function). Most of the GSD dogs movement, health results and more and more dramatic topline sliding talk for themselves. Now it is the time for action before it's too late! We can not lose this wonderful, unique breed!

In my opinion there is no better breed of dog anywhere.I have lived with them for nearly half a century and no dog even comes close to the intelligence and loyalty of a GSD .My first German Shepherd lived to the ripe old age of 17 and never had any health problems.I added a new puppy to my home about 6 months ago and it has been one health problem after the other .The vet stated most of the Shepherds they had been treating had numerous problems as well digestive ,allergies ,skin conditions or skeletal and joint.I believe that all of the great things that made them such great dogs has been bred out of them for the show ring.A large majority of the rescues were given up because of the health problems not aggression or the usual problems associated with the breed. The owners simply could not afford to take care of a sickly animal fortunately all of my rescues have been put in wonderful homes and are doing great. It is a sad fact but you never used to see a German Shepherd at the pound or shelter but they are getting very common.I have seen some of the ones that are true to what was intended and there is a world of difference in the working animals and the show animals. It is hard to believe they are the same dog.The old type are super strong and good health just radiates off them.I might anger some people but they are working dogs not models or lap dogs .In my opinion there is no better family pet and my service animal when I required one was a German Shepherd .The best all around dog is being destroyed for the show ring.I say let a German Shepherd be what it was intended to be to start with a noble working animal. It is heartbreaking to see some of the dogs I have ran across not even able to stand .I am not sure how to fix this breed's health problems but I am sure someone somewhere does and hopefully this breed can return to what it once was the best dog ever

One of the best dogs I ever had was a slope-backed GSD. He was, friendly, well-behaved, well-trained and even helped to train our younger dog. We put him down long before his time because of his chronic pain associated with having such a terrible pelvic configuration. RIP, old friend.

True German Shepherd Dog lovers are appalled by this disgraceful extreme breeding trait of slopping the dog's back. Every time I watch an AKC dog show, I cry at the sight of the german shepherd shown. I own a straight back german shepherd dog. anything else is cruelty to animals and should be stopped. there should be a law against breeding such a deformity that creates pain and suffering for a majority of the dog's life.

i recently lost my german shepherd crusoe, he was straight backed, large head and weighed 112lb. i've been looking for a healthy looking old fashioned gsd but i cant find any in the uk. they need to be more specific with the breed standard to stop breeders breeding to the extream. this is unhealthy for the animals and doesnt look nice either. in extream cases the dogs cant use their back legs properly their just stilts.

I absolutely support this petition. It is abnormal and immoral to "disfigure" this breed of dogs that I love passionately. I am against all forms of degeneration animal ; against all defects and suffering of these wonderful dogs, imposed by of " sick ". But where does the world with these monstrous manipulations ? These practices are dangerous to all humans.

Many other dog breeds are suffering due to in-breeding and interference from man - and all in the name of 'beauty', apparently. This must end now.

I'M A GEMAN OWNER AND I RECEIVED HER AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY. THE REASON SHE WAS IN THERE IS BECAUSE SHE WAS A MILITAY DOG WHO WAS ABUSED BY HER MALE HANDLER!!! SO I'M VERY BIAS TO GDS AND I DON'T LIKE WATCHING THEM AT ANY DOG SHOW CAUSE IT'S NOTHING LIKE THE TRUE GDS BREED!!!!
