On July 31, residents of the Main Street Mobile Home and RV Park found the bloodied body of a small dog whose head had been smashed in. The dog, a 14-year-old cocker spaniel named Copper, was apparently known in the area as the punching bag of Alexander "Al" Castro. Neighbors allege that they had seen Castro regularly kicking and beating Copper, who reportedly belonged to Castro's girlfriend for months.

The case has been forwarded to Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.

We the undersigned,

We were alarmed to learn that a 14-year-old cocker spaniel was beaten to death in your jurisdiction. The defendant, Alexander Castro, allegedly had been seen beating the small dog for months. Violent acts against animals have long been recognized as indicators of a dangerous pyschopathy that does not confine itself to animals.

We urge you to prosecute Alexander Castro to the fullest extent and send a powerful message that this barbaric abuse will not be tolerated in your jurisdiction.

Probation should not be an option, as this would allow a dangerous man back into society.

Sincerely,
