Push for Harsher Sentence for Animal Abusers/Murderers!
Who is "Pommy"? Its the most recent victim of animal abuse in Singapore. Its the unidentified Pomeranian who was "thrown and bashed onto the floor over and over again... at least 10 times". Its the dog who passed away with a collar and leash on but still unclaimed to date.

Animal abuse cases are on the rise and each case presents more shocking details of inhumanity. These animals, whichever species it may be, are not in existence just to provide human an avenue to relief stress or to perform fantasies of torture. They have a right to live and die in peace.

In US, there is a growing trend in toughening laws against animal abuse. Similarly, England has strengthened it animal welfare laws. However, in Singapore, we still continue to treat these crimes as minor offences. A man who killed a cat by throwing it against the wall only received 3 weeks behind bars.

Although its difficult as layman to judge the extent of punishment deem fit for animal abuse, its easy to see how lightly it is treated now. Who ever invented the word "animal" and said human are not animals? We can't understand their language doesn't mean we can't speak for them. For those with no spare capacity to care for animals, at least you should know that many of the world's most notorious human killers have long histories of animal abuse.

This petition is not so much focused on punishing the people who has already committed the offences but its important that it acts as a deterrent to prevent future cases like these. Even if total prevention is not possible, at least we send out a stern message that acts of abuse, not necessary ending in death, will not be condoned!

Let your voices be heard!
