Get Bili the Chimpanzee to the Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary NOW!

Ignoring the recommendation of an international primate specialist, the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water intends to prolong the suffering of Bili the chimpanzee. Bili has lived alone at Stara Zagora Zoo for many years. The Ministry recently approached Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary asking if they would take Bili. The Sanctuary immediately agreed that they could take Bili and as the Ministry had no funds, the Sanctuary has raised funds accordingly.
Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary is BALAI approved and has DEFRA approved quarantine facilities for Bili where he will be introduced to two other bachelor chimps and socialisation can begin without delay. Bili's travel arrangements (he cannot travel by plane) will be in the Sanctuary's fully equipped quarantine licensed rescue ambulance.
The Ministry in Bulgaria have decided instead without consultaion with the Sanctuary, to send Bili to another facility. This facility has a 3 month waiting list, has known about Bili since September 2010 and cannot accomodate him until at least July!  Bili deserves better than that - he must move now to the Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary where he will have a permanent loving home with people prepared to give him lifetime care and attention.  www.ape-monkey-rescue.org.uk
We the undersigned urge you to allow Bili the lone chimpanzee at Stara Zagora Zoo, to go to a new and loving home at the Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary in the UK. Bili is guaranteed a home there with other chimps for the rest of his life. More importantly this Sanctuary is able to accomodate Bili immediately and has been recommended to you by an eminent international primate expert.
