Help us rescue Lake Amatitl�n in Guatemala

Ex-director of AMSA, Edgar Zamora, negotiated a loan for USD$23 million with the Inter-American Development Bank for the construction of a garbage dump needed by 11 communities around Lake Atitl�n but a proper place for it was never found. Now, Mayor Mainor Orellana has indicated that such garbage dump can be located close to Lake Amatitl�n, together with a treatment plant that can generate electricity from the solid waste. A treatment plant to rescue the now defunct Lake Amatitl�n is the best idea! Please send a letter to Mayor Mainor Orellana asking him for a treatment plant to rescue Lake Amatitl�n whether he constructs the garbage dump by the lake or not.

We the undersigned respectfully request that you save Lake Amatitl�n for the benefit of locals and the world at large. A treatment plant to rescue it is the right thing to do. All Guatemalans at home and around the world will thank you for it as well as every person in the planet concerned about the environment
