Help stop religious discrimination!

Help stop religious discrimination!

Target:
Attorney Tony Rollman

We, the undersigned, are shocked and appalled at the actions of an Asheville attorney named Tony Rollman, who displayed hostility against a Pagan mother needing legal advice. She came into his office on May 14, 2009 seeking advice on how to handle a family crisis and was met with harsh discrimination because of her religious beliefs. He was given a printed off email from the ex-husband's MySpace account, blaming her shortcomings of being a bad mother based on the fact she was of the Pagan faith. Mr. Rollman immediately demanded to know if she was indeed a Wiccan. When he was asked why it mattered, Mr. Rollman threatened the mother stating: "Get the f*** out of my office while you still can!"

We, the undersigned, believe that Mr. Rollman must apologize to this mother, at the very bare minimum. His actions were uncalled for and demand that he stop discriminating against potential clients because of their beliefs, or further action shall be taken.

This petition will be mailed (in snail and e format) to Tony Rollman's law office by July 30, 2009. If you support our efforts, please add your signature below.

She didn't deserve to be treated like this. I wish that he does get in trouble.

Not only did Rollman discriminate against this woman, he threatened her. That kind of behavior is unacceptable from an attorney. He should not be allowed this occupation if he is too immature to conduct himself as a respectable adult.

If Rollman had treated her this way because of her skin color or nationality there would be a demand for his resignation( if not more).

I can see from petition signer Stephen "non Supporter" Honey along with Mr Rolland that there will be no tolerance among humans while people of different faiths are discriminated against and that not only saddens, but sickens me as well.

So you idiots think the witch has a right to freedom but Mr. Rollman isn't allowed to have his opinon. You hypocritical fools. It is easy to point your bony fingers in judgement...or your broom or whatever...toughen up cry babies...when you go against mainstream you should expect to be looked upon with disdain. You are in the Bible belt...what do you expect? For everyone to conform to your veiws? Maybe sit down a split a six pack of withes brew and worship the pentagram? Get a life, and get a little tougher skin. Find another lawyer who'll kiss your ass, pat you on the head and conform you your veiws, I'm sure you'll find one. And that is my opinion, which I have a right to express just as Tony has. God bless America and the Godly values it was built upon. I bet you won't send this will you? Now go on a try to rip me a new one...I have tough skin...and I will pray for you souls.

Although I am not of the pagan faith I believe everyone has the right to fair council from an attorney. They have no right to judge someone on their spiritual beliefs. It is facts that matter. :)

I am Wiccan and we believe our religion to be a path of wisdom. Our religion is recognized as official on both the national and state levels. We are protected by the laws of this land. Your discrimination is ignorant and disgusting. As a lawyer, you should not be afraid to help those who have a different religion than you do. You should apologize to all those you have offended, and I think you should quit your job or have your credentials taken if you can not practice ethically.

Wake up Mr. Rollman and recognize the right of every person to be who they want and to live their lives according to THEIR own will. NOT yours.

This really surprises me coming from a so-called professional. Mr Rollman showed his ignorance and unprofessionalism so I'm sure the lady would be much better off with a more knowledgable and less uncouth lawyer representing her. Mr Rollman should apologize publicly at the very least.

One who knows the law should know how to behave. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

This issue is important not just to me but for the general public at large. This is supposed to be a country where freedom of speach is accepted, this mother not only was denied her freedom to speak she was judged by a person who was not qualified to have an opinion on the faith this individual has chosen to follow. This kind of ignorance is dangerous and I am surprised and outraged that a person holding a professional position has lowered himself to deal with another human being seeking advice and support in this dispicable manner. This woman should receive an apology from not only the offending person but also from the company he represents, I would also suggest that he is required to "look into" the pagan religion and then perhaps these injustices may be stopped for future people requiring support in a professional manner.

Why is it that the great teachers & founders of the main religions of this planet taught forgiveness, tollerance & love, yet the followers interpret this to mean hate eveyone who believes differently to you. I must point out that no 2 people ever have had, or ever will have 100% identical beliefs. Also, the American constitution when written gave everyone freedom to worship in their own way, it never mentioned once "A Christian Nation". This man is not only prejudiced, but unconstitutional & in conflict with the teachings of Jesus. I recommend he reads the "New" Testament, the Christian bible. Why would you need a new one if thew old one was fine on its own? Study your own faith sir, & then learn the truth about others.

It's bigots like this man that have cause many wars and will continue to until people are allowed to be left in peace with their spirituality. Most Pagans I know are practising Pagans and most Christians that I know are NOT practising Christians! This at least should tell a story!

Hawaiian culture is based on earth worship, worship for the land, the sea and the caretakers of all. Being a native Hawaiian, having read about the missionaries and forced conversions to Christianity, this doesn't really surprise me, but it makes me sick. Our religion is beautiful, respectful of our world, and completely non intrusive into others' lives. Being an attorney means to defend the rights of the people and to uphold the law. He failed miserably in both of these. :( If he can't do either, he needs to remove himself from this profession.

As a pagan, it appalls me how much is blamed on our religion. We are accused of being perverts, of being unfit parents, of devil worship (which it is not), and so much more. Please offer an apology to this woman (at the very least) and maybe look into what a pagan is - you might be surprised!

I am a Baptist, and this, quite frankly, is appauling to me. where do you get off treating someone like this?! i have pagan friends, and they are some of the most harmless people i have ever met! pagan, doesnt mean satanist! neither does wicca for that matter! i truely believe that an apology is in order!

we should all respect each others belief and not be controlled by one belief. Our beliefs all come from the past and should be allowed to be honored.

Freedom of Religion means ANY religion. You've probably helped other pagans out and never even realized it.

I think any discrimination based on religious orientation is deplorable in this day and age. It's 2009, wake up and face reality. Religious intolerance is unacceptable.

This is absolutly sickning. I can not believe that in this day and time, after everything we as a people have fought for such as equality of races, equality between man and woman, etc. We all are trying to begin a new life of peace and harmony, now here we are having to fight over something like this, RELIGION! Mr. Rollman, what makes your belief right and mine or the Pagan mother who came to you for advice wrong. It would be my assumption that you are Christian, right? Does the Bible not teach you to "love thy brother"? Where in this holy book does it say "Love thy brother except if they are Pagan or Wiccan or any or belief other than yours"? Maybe you need to go back and read your "GOOD BOOK" again!!! Do what is right by YOUR BELIEF and apoligize to this mother and then PRAY TO YOUR GOD TO FORGIVE YOUR FOR YOUR SIN!!!
