Hoosiers Can't Afford AG Zoeller's Lawsuit Against Health Care

Attorney General Greg Zoeller announced that he will join the Attorneys General of other states in a lawsuit challenging the new health care reform bill.

Thousands of Hoosiers made phone calls, sent letters and attended rallies, urging our members of Congress to support this reform.  We cannot let AG Zoeller stand in the way, and waste valuable tax payer dollars.  With our state budget crisis, how can we afford this lawsuit?

The initial cost to the state will be its share of a $50,000 legal contract, but Zoeller said it is unclear how much of that tab the state would have to pay.

He also said it is unclear how much joining the legal battle in U.S. District Court could cost Indiana, and Zoeller said he did not set a cap on how much the state would be willing to spend on the suit.

Dear Attorney General McCollum,

The Office of the Indiana Attorney General helps protect the rights, freedoms and safety of Hoosiers.  Your lawsuit against the federal government to repeal health care reform, if successful, will do the exact opposite, including:

%u2022 Deny Hoosiers health insurance they currently don%u2019t have.
%u2022 Deny Hoosier seniors access to free preventative health care services.
%u2022 Deny Hoosier seniors cost savings for brand-name prescription drugs under Medicare.
%u2022 Deny Hoosier small businesses tax credits they could use to insure their employees.

Your lawsuit, which will cost tens of thousands of our hard earned tax dollars, does not help the people of Indiana in any way. Furthermore, we feel this is a partisan effort, and an insult to the office which you were elected to serve.

In this recession and state budget crisis, we cannot afford this expensive law suit, and you don't even know how much it might cost us the taxpayers!!!
