I was raised with horses, and I could never eat them. I am trying to be vegetarian, meat is not good for you. Chronic wasting disease is in wild animals in the USA, and could be in horses. Horses are smart, they have fought in wars, saved lives been best friends to so many of us, they help handicap children. I can not believe you want to eat them.

IGA The people in the United States do not eat horse meat. You might get away with selling it in Europe but don't try it here. I won't be going to any of your super markets in the states. Any company that is so greedy for profit that you promote horse meat and the cruelty that goes with it I will not do business with.

What a disgrace that they would sell "Horsemeat Burgers" I will never ever shop there again and I will inform everyone I know to do the same. They should be ashamed of themselves as a company.

Like the majority of Canadians, I find it offensive that any supermarket would promote and sell horsemeat. From the moment horses are at auctions, right until they enter the kill box, they are treated with neglect and endure great suffering. No food or water is provided for days at a time. They ship in crowded trailers where horses fight and kick. The kill methods are inadequate, thereby up to 30% of horses are not unconscious when shot with the captive bolt gun. That means many are strung up alive before being butchered. Canadians are learning more about the plight of horses that go to slaughter and are speaking out against it. Eating horsemeat is also potentially unhealthy, as many horses come straight from racetracks where chemical agents are still in their bloodstream. It is in IGA's best interest to make a statement that they do not accept the suffering of our horses - and stop selling horse meat.

Put an end to to this horrendous practice of slaughtering horses for human consumption. Horses are not a food staple, and are sentient creatures that have served man well in various capacities as companions,workers, therapy horses etc. I will certainly boycott any company that promotes and sells their flash for human or other consumption and urge everyone I know to boycott stores that sell horse meat.
