Human Rights. Smokers should be treated equally

Why should our rights as smokers be discriminated against?
WE NEED TO FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS AS AMERICAN CITIZENS!

It is sad when we are supposed to be a free country, but if we smoke we do not have the same rights. The power of the few can speak up and take our rights away to go out to a restaurant and be able to enjoy a cigarette. The government tells us that smoking is killing people, although I know many doctors, nurses, etc. that smoke on a daily basis. If smoking was such a bad health risk, why do numerous people in the heath care profession smoke? I think that the Government needs to go after other causes of death. Many things in our life cause more death than smoking.

Be pro active instead of reactive.

There are only a few Antis taking rights away from a lot of people. There are a lot of smokers, and even more non-smoking folks who are fed up with the Antis taking away personal freedom.
The antis are well funded and do this for a living. When a smoker or non-smoker does not like being told what to do on their own property, the Antis reply by screaming that the person must be a front for "Big Tobacco."
Any opinion other than theirs is wrong and you are not allowed to ask why.
Think of the bully in the school yard when you were a kid. This is what he's grown up to be. He knows people will do what he says because he's lied so much that most people take the lies as truth without question.
When you ask for proof of his statements, he enters into his magic act of deceit, smoke and mirrors. Listen carefully for his real message%u2026 "Because I said so."
If you already have parents and don't want more, force this bully to give you the proof to backup his statements.

Dear  President George W. Bush, Governor Phil Bredesen, Senator Lamar Alexander, Senator Bob Corker, Representative David Davis, Senator Jamie Woodson, Senator Raymond Finney, Senator Randy McNally, Senator Tim Burchett, Representative Joe McCord, Representative Doug Overbey, Representative Joe Armstrong, Representative Bill Dunn, Representative Park Strader, Representative Richard Montgomery, Representative Russell Johnson, Representative Stacey Campfield:

As a constituent who lives in your district, we the undersigned request you not support House Bill 2138. This bill would prohibit smoking in restaurants open to the general public. Similar measures have been introduced as HB0198 and HB1692. These bills have been referred to the Agriculture Committee.

We the undersigned do not favor passage of a bill that would take away our rights to smoke in restaurants and other public places throughout Tennessee. We the undersigned also disagree with another alternative, which would be revision of TCA 39-17-1551 to allow local governments to ban smoking in restaurants. Several such bills have been introduced, including HB0263, HB1686, and HB1693. House Bill 2142 seeks to prohibit smoking in indoor workplaces, which presumably includes restaurants.

If you look at what other states have done, for instance in New York, It has hurt the business in the pocket book, which effects the revenue to the State Government, thus causing New York to look at increasing taxes. We the undersigned hope you will join us by not supporting HB2138 and similar measures, and We the undersigned would like to know your position on this issue. Thank you for your efforts in this regard.
