My son is right now in surgery to repair a broken back. He is 20 yrs old, works in a restaurant and has no insurance. I don't even want to think about how much this is going to cost. He almost didn't have the surgery because of the cost but when he was told he might be paralysed and have no bowel or bladder control, he changed his mind. He is scared and so am I. What are we to do? He doesn't qualify for medicaid because he is a single male. We need this bill now! It's too late to help my son, but may be it will help someone elses son.

The climate of fear in the USA will be greatly decreased if we place the success of this country on protecting the most important resource in the world that causes anything to happen... it's people. If we are all healthy, we all win. No one complains about paying for fire department and police services. No one says , "well you don't have insurance with the Louisville fire department, so we won't be providing support for the fire you have in your house. I've never had a fire break out in my house, but I've never complained about paying taxes for fire and police departments. They are both completely socialized; health coverage should be the same.

If the average person understood the pros and cons of the single payer plan proposed in HR676 phone lines would light up like a Christmas tree in every Senator’s and Congressperson’s office with demands to vote yes on HR676 now! However, public perception of a single payer plan is distorted by misinformation and fear of big government. We need to educate our citizens, and when they learn the truth, this plan or one like it will pass. For the record, I’m an independent voter who leans toward small government. I’m also a small business owner, and in a past career I sold health insurance as a financial advisor. Over the years I’ve studied the problems in our health insurance system, and have concluded beyond a doubt that a single payer plan is the best approach. It’s not perfect, but it’s light years better then our current system and/or any other proposal. If we can’t get the votes for this plan, perhaps the bill can be revised to allow people to choose between a single payer plan and the current hodgepodge of insurance available. I think in short order people would see first hand which works better.

I'm uninsured because I'm medically disabled and unmarried... That doesn't make sense to me and I hope it doesn't to you either.

A truly civilized country would have health care for all, as do most of the other "developed" nations in the world.

I am one of millions in this great country without healthcare. As a small business operator, I cannot afford coverage in this country I call my home. My three children do not have health care for they also work for other small businesses or held to part time positions as well. It indeed, is a shame on our country to allow such a health care "crysis" to continue. We are tired of the politics, the excuses, the games being played, big business insurance companies having more rights than the citizens of this country, the corrupt hidden contracts within the activity of the insurance companies, federal reserve, the internal revenue service and department of commerce and now our own justice department. You as politicians, should be ashamed for the lies, ignorance on your watch, and flat-out stonewalling of the issues effecting our country rather than your personal well being and your own pockets and bank accounts. If your going to respond the my email, please don't give me the typical netural position and to share my comments with the other members of congress. We need true subject matter, your position on the issues and take a stance concerning your future as well as ours. Now please, and may God help us this all.

He does now because of medicare- I have many health issues and we are living just waiting for some disaster to hit our home. Please help us get insurance.

What about poor,or completely umemployed,or homeless, and many other sick and disabled people who cannot afford health insurance. Please be passionated, and have mercy and pass the Universal Health Plan. What will happen to all those people? They will suffer needlessly.

By taking the insurance companies' profit motive out of healthcare delivery, every citizen could be provided preventive and treatment services for much less than is spent now on premiums and subsidies.Employers are at a disadvantage if they provide healthcare, and the insured subsidize the uninsured, and the taxpayers subsidize everyone.

Take the insurance industry monopoly equation out of health care reform. Exposes the fiancial connections of pharmacauticals and insurance industries of the current presidential candidates fundings. Single Payer Health Care System is the only way to go. Extend the current Medicare in the US.

There is only one way to achieve genuine universal health care; the approach taken by every other industrialized nation, which is a national health care or single payer system. Here in the US it would look a lot like an expanded Medicare for all. With guaranteed health care for everyone, not mandated insurance premiums. We need to remove the profit driven insurance industry from health care. This is long overdue. Not a word from Clinton or Obama on this- who are only helping to further entrench the iron grip of private insurance.

It's increasingly clear that the reason this bill has received virtually no attention by the front-runners in the presidential race is that they are all either bought off by corporations or are just too afraid of being dubbed too liberal. It's a shame that even a majority of democrats refuse to abolish the influence of HMOs in our health care system. The only candidate to come out in favor of this bill was Dennis Kucinich and the media (with the exception of Bill Maher), as well as other candidates, made absolutely sure that his views were not publicized. Shameful system we live in.

I do not want drug companies and insurance companies deciding my health care and skimming so much money away from my health care to line their pockets. I want me and my doctor to make the decisions.
