i was in the car with my twin and our 8 year old half sis and we were listening to the radio and it mentioned the word douchebag. she simply stated that she just heard the word on icarly. even though the show can be a bit off i'll watch it because it's mildly entertaining but i couldnt believe my ears. shes also said she learned the word bastard from spongebob. we didnt believe that but i went home and watched an episode of icarly and realized it is a bit mature for the audience intended. well, for the younger viewers anyways.

Hey this message is toward the people writing messages about iCarly haters and why they shouldn't hate iCarly, and most of them are really quite rude. Well think again, this site isn't about hating iCarly, it's about finding iCarly offensive. I used to like this show very much because Spencer and Freddie were entertaining. I stopped liking this show after watching it start to go down hill, and the jokes became more and more twisted and insulting. The last straw, however, though I don't know the name of it was an episode that showed an english boy who lost a singing competition because of iCarly apparently. The English boy was then shown to be completely snobby, disgusting and downright racist towards the Americans with a horrible mother who rather disturbingly smothers Carly. The episode finished with Carly and Sam telling people on their webshow where the English boy lived and to pretty much go beat him up. Now, I'm sorry but as an english person, I found this truly offensive and insulting and unfit for television. In my eyes, that episode was promoting racism and I simply thought it was completely wrong. So for anyone who likes iCarly, thats your call, but I hope from this you can understand why some people don't.

Shows such as iCarly, Tru Jackson VP, Kids Choice Awards (it promotes celebrity worship like the rest of the world in my opinion. I really don't know how this celebrity thing got so out of hand.) and Dude what would happen (or something like that, which is like a kid version of Jackass) is the reason why my generation is so crazy, brainwashed and just plain stupid. It makes me sad. I'm 18 now and I've been disappointed by the way the world is developing since I was 12 years old. People ask, "What is this world coming to?" I have to say, it looks like it's coming to an end. It's sad but true.

I SO totally agree with your opinion(although I had no idea of the stereotypes when I watched the show's episodes)! There are a lot of things I could tell you that are blasphemously wrong, but if I told you everything it would take me forever. Thus, I'll narrow it down to three: -Focus on dating: Too many iCarly episodes are plotted on dating people, especially iWin a Date. This is a show aimed mainly at middle schoolers, and middle school is NOT the time to worry about going out with someonoe! -Lack of positive messages and humor: I have never once watched an iCarly episode and laughed at anything that happens. It's just not funny. Also, more importantly, few, if any, iCarly episodes have imparted a good message to the audience. Instead, it's been either plotless ballyhoo or wrong examples. Sam's character, along with those of other people, is awful and revolting, and it's disgusting to see how the show makes fun of teachers in their personalities. -This last one ties back into the previous comment and is more specific. The episode "iDate a Bad Boy" is by far one of the worst episodes of iCarly I've seen, period. I mean, Carly wants to break up with Griffin JUST because of his psycho obsession with Pee-Wee Babies! Not because of his character or who he is, but only because he collects kiddie toys! This isn't just stupid and horribly plotted, but think of the bad message it's imparting: Kids will think it's okay to break up with their boy/girlfriend if they are interested in something they don't like. Wrong, wrong, wrong. iCarly is f------ sick and should be banned from TV.

iCarly is a menace. Almost every episode has something awfully wrong with it. These three get into trouble without having to face any consequences and Carly has a guardian who is practically her slave and acts more like a kid that she does. He'll drive her ANYWHERE she wants to go (Idaho, Hollywood) no matter what the distance, Carly made him do the dishes and prevented him from ever fencing again even though he's an adult and she's a kid, and he allowed Freddie to sneak into detention and didn't care that Carly was going to be there too. Also, they do a lot of illegal stuff on the show. They've changed grades on the school's computer, they break into a teacher's house and film her mockingly, Sam always gets into fights and abuses kids, and there's the one episode where the teacher with "boyfriend problems" takes it out on her class. No professional teacher would do such a thing. Also, whoever thought of Carly's character did an AWFUL job. She's smart, funny, and treated like a celebrity at her school. Everyone loves her show, she always gets what she wants, and the only boy that has been on the show that has not wanted to kiss her is Gibby.

I've heard twice iCarly mentioning breasts. Once during iSaw Him First, iCarly mentioned a Helping Bra. Kids are too young to be concerned about it, and expands their concern (curious) too soon for young boys as well. The second was during iWant My Website Back, when Spencer Shay dresses up as Carly's non-existent, Great Aunt Susie. Spencer said, "No,no,no. I'm just a BUSTY old lady." while jumping up and down to emphasize that he had breasts. This is inappropriate for kids to see and gets them curious about the female body too soon. Their jokes are suppose to mild yet funny, yet they still mention adult stuff with terrible/inappropriate puns.

First off, I just wanted to assure everyone that the word 'douchebag' has not so much as been uttered in iCarly. I assume that children saying this are watching far worse things, and you might not want to waste your time fretting over this ultimately harmless show. And, I agree that it is not appropriate for younger children (2 year olds), but it's Teen Nick, whose targeted audience is pre to mid teens. Also, I would venture to say that iCarly is a show that teaches some morals such as patriotism, dedication, the values of a good sibling relationship, loyalty, acceptance of all personalities and more. I could supply examples for each of these, but I will save the space. But, to each their own. Your opinion is yours, and I respect it. I just thought it was vital to clear up the 'douchebag' thing, and say that there are far more menacing shows than iCarly that we need to look out for.

My 2 year old is absolutely in LOVE with iCarly (he's starting to notice cute girls) and I've always let him watch an episode or two every once in awhile while I do housework. Well, I decided to sit down and watch it with him one day and I was disgusted. I, too, saw the episode where Sam conforms to get a certain boy (which would be a good lesson if it weren't so crudely done). I thought I was overreacting, so we watched another. Just as disgusting. We were also at my sister-in-laws house a few days ago and the kids started calling each other "douchebag". I immediately let them know that was a bad word and we don't say that... their response? iCarly says it. Ugh, this show needs shut down!!

iCarly is another in a string of "kid" shows intent on undermining the values we continually fight to teach our children. From Mary Kate and Ashley movies where the girls ran away from the adult in charge, met boys and never got in trouble, to izoe one-o-one we've eliminated today's children's programming for our 3 girls. Not only were they disrespectful to adults, but insulted each other for fun. We've gone back to the old shows like "I love lucy" and "Get Smart" for entertainment and love it!That's when writers had to be good enough to take an everyday event and show us the funny side of life with silly and intelligent humor that was great fun for "everyone" in the family.
