AS A GRANDMA & MOTHER OF 3, I BELIEVE THAT WE CAN ALL MAKE BETTER DECISIONS IF WE ARE FULLY INFORMED. BREAST IS STILL BEST!

I think that breastfeeding or not breastfeeding is a personal decision, however, it should be an INFORMED decision. I also realize that BFing sometimes doesn't work out for people who do want to BF. I am still exclusively BFing my 13-month old daughter (no bottles, never any formula). She is incredibly healthy when all of her playmates have been extremely sick (she's the only BF'd baby in the group as the others all stopped between 6-12 months).

Women do not choose to breastfeed, it is biologically normal. We chose not to based on inaccurate information and Doctors who are not willing to tell us (or don't know) the truth.

I think that it is about time that all medical persons were obliged to give information and help to all women who have babies. The majority of them still think that it is a choice that they make, and would think about it much more carefully if they were better informed. Also there is the issue of lack of help and advice when women want to feed and feel that they cannot do so. It is very sad, affects all their childrens health for years to come, and doesnt allow them to enjoy the most beautiful experience they will probably ever have as a parent. I feel very strongly about breastfeeding and everything to do with it!

With all of the knowledge arising today why not make the most important start of good nutrition at birth! There is just no comparison to breastmilk. There really needs to be more awareness about the lack of proper nutrition in formula. Too many women are led to believe formula is just as good as breastfeeding, however, that is completely untrue!

Many women truly believe there is no difference between breastfeeding and formula--though medical statistics clearly say otherwise. Even doctors seem to think that breastfeeding isn't always enough--when it should be, how else would the species have survived? Formula was supposed to be designed to save the lives of babies whose mothers truly couldn't breastfeed--less than 2% of women. And then for babies whose mothers need lifesaving medications that interfere with breastfeeding. However, the damage that bottle feeding causes is well-documented, though many women don't have access to that information. Formula companies constantly violate the mandate against saying they're the same as breastfeeding by saying they're the "closest to the breast"--implying that they're the same or even better. A warning is needed to protect those mothers from making an uninformed choice. Most formula fed babies don't NEED to be fed formula. Please protect those babies. Studies have estimated over 9000 babies in the US alone would survive had they been breastfed.

There should also be a warning about when a child consumes a high amount of concentrated formula. The baby can get very sick, yet there is no warning about this. That would be like there was no warning on a Clorox Bleach bottle.

Formula is harming babies!! It is important that parents know the dangers, It is important that they also believe it. Please put a warning on formula, it is unneccessarily being used by such a large population! Please inform parents of the NECESSITY OF BREASTMILK!!!

breastfed my oldest for 2 and a half years and nursing my second girl for nearly 2 years now. neither have ever had an ear infection, worst sicknesses have been colds, neither have any allergies. my oldest child has a 165 IQ... now tell me breatsfeeding hasnt played a role in this. damn straight.

breastfeeding is the best thing you can do for your baby. it is a shame that people will blindly feed their child that crap. if more people knew about how bad formula is, then maybe more moms would breastfeed.

Too many people give their babies that crap because they're unaware of these risks. It's not fair to the children or paying parents. Very few women can't nurse. There's no reason all these babies should be getting formula.

If I had known the risks of not breastfeeding my oldest two children, maybe I wouldn't have had thousands and thousands of dollars worth of medical bills because of their numerous medical conditions that I now believe are related to being bottle fed on formula.
