We the undersigned oppose the proposed Wal-Mart Super Center on Folly Road.  We want to preserve the natural landscape of our island. We need wetlands-not Wal-Marts.
Currently, there are 5 grocery stores within a 3 mile radius of the proposed expansion.  Islanders do not support destroying our landscape to provide a 6th.
Please make Wal-Mart be a responsible community partner and not build the Super Center.
Thank you for your consideration.

Thank you to everyone who signed our petition to fight Wal Mart!!
The city of Charleston has backed off selling the wetlands to Wal Mart- for now. Wal Mart still plans to expand the store. Tell them 'NO' by boycotting Wal Mart on James Island.
Keep the pressure on City Council and Mayor Riley to honor the deed restrictions on the wetlands and protect our precious resources!!

If Wal-Mart want to expand, they should find a brownfield site or redevelop the existing site without expansion of the current footprint. There's precious few natural areas left on James Island and every last one of should be protected. Are we such fools that we allow Wal-Mart to destroy habitats in the U.S. to sell more cheap rubbish from China that inevitably ends up in the landfill? Even worse, we make the Chinese richer so that they consume more oil and push up gas prices even more? Sod off Wal-Mart.

There are more than enough stores in the world for people to get everything they could possibly need, including all that Wal Mart has to offer, but there is only a limited amount of natural land and wetlands. Our wildlife is finite, and our responsibility to preserve it and ensure it's endurance is infinite. The right decision would be to have one less Wal Mart and save many more lives--the benefits of not having a Wal Mart outweigh the reasons for it when we act as responsible Americans should and consider the ethical weight of our decisions. Don't build another Wal Mart, WE CAN LIVE WITHOUT IT!

There is no need for another wal mart in charleston! there is already on in James Island that is within drivable distance. Wetlands are a necessary part of the ecosystem used to filter things out of our drinking water. Another wal mart is NOT needed in James Island.
