I Take The Pill

Every woman has the right to a healthy body, a right to choose when to have children, a right to choose if she even wants children, a right to choose the family planning method that is right for her. Many women have chosen the Pill.

But oral contraceptives are a controversial phenomenon. They are said to cause cancer, to be abortifacient, to cause infertility. Many studies and many women testify to their safety, but naysayers still disagree.

Advocates of the Pill laud its benefits: irregular cycles can be a thing of the past. Menstrual period can be timed. Some women don't even take them for birth control purposes. Hormone imbalances can be corrected, and skin problems solved!

Are you on the Pill? Do you know someone who is on the Pill? Share your stories here.

Are you one of the thousands of women in the Philippnes using the combined oral contraceptive pill? If so, you might want to add your name to this petition, hoping to combat the stigma about using the Pill and the misinformation out there about it.

“We want to hear from real people, telling us how they feel about taking the Pill,” says Regina Layug-Rosero of the group Mulat Pinoy, co-sponsor of the petition with advocacy blog Sex and Sensibilities. We hope to spread awareness that:

  • The Pill does not cause cancer.
  • The Pill does not cause abortion.
  • Many women take the Pill for medical reasons, as prescribed by their doctor.
  • Many women have used the Pill for years with no side effects or adverse reactions.

If you use the Pill and want to add your testimony to those of other women around the world, sign the petition.

If you know women who are on the Pill and have suffered no adverse effects, sign the petition!

If you are male and know women who are on the Pill, sign the petition as well!
