John Mellencamp - the bard of Indiana, my home state.  Singer of such hits as "Pink Houses," "R.O.C.K. in the USA" and "Jack and Diane."  A political activist and champion of working men and women in Indiana and America, we ask him now to endorse Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States.  Please sign the petition to encourage Mr. Mellencamp to make public his endorsement before the Indiana primary on May 6.

John Mellencamp - the bard of Indiana, my home state - would you please unilaterally and unequivocally endorse Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States before the Indiana Democratic primary election on May 6, 2008?

We Hoosiers, and we Americans, look to you to represent us, look to you who sang about a young man who was told "boy, you gonna be president," look to you who have have been a tireless champion of not only Hoosier farmers and Hoosier working men and women, but hard-working Americans everywhere who look for a president that will champion their causes just as you have championed ours.  That young man you sang about is here, now, and his name is Barack Obama.

It amazes me every time I turn on the radio in Richmond, IN, my hometown - one of your songs never fails to play on the country station, the rock station, and the modern station.  You are cross-genre, you are everywhere, and you are loved by everyone here.  Your message of peace and hope is needed now in this election.  Please do not wait; do something now while you can; time is running out.  Bruce Springsteen has endorsed Senator Obama; now we need you.  Please, John, for Indiana, for your country, and more importantly for what Indiana and this country can be... endorse Senator Obama.

We, the signers of this petition, ask you.

Thank you,

Ryan Jeanes

Please support Barack Obama! I know you love Edwards, but you know who's going to bring about real positive change for America.

Hey, John Edwards is long gone from this race, and Barack Obama is the one candidate who most closely relfects Edwards's message of hope and unity. Actually, Barack Obama is more reflective of Bobby Kennedy and his message of racial harmony. Barack Obama has already been endorsed by Bruce Springsteen who started the Vote for Change tour of 2004 in which you participated. John, you have often been referred to as "the poor man's Springsteen." Yes, you don't have Bruce's talent or integrity, but you do have a chance to influence the people of your home state of Indiana by endorsing Barack Obama. Please make the right choice now as time is running out. John, your life is now, and this is your last chance to walk tall. You've got to stand for something, or you're going to fall for anything.

Hi John -- I admire you for being an "equal opportunity performer" for our campaign. However, there will come a time for you to choose the candidate that you believe in. Because you were a John Edwards supporter, I believe that you also agree in the courage, values and mission of Senator Barack Obama! Indiana needs you! America needs you! Let's "R-O-C-K in the U.S.A." together! Jully Waldron, South Bend, IN

Please John; we need a good hand-wringing, foot-stomping liberal democrat to give us a break so we can prepare for the next attack on U.S.!!

John, Thanks for your efforts over the years to represent true small town America in an honest way. You write from the heart. You've always spoken out for the people here in Indiana and gone a step further with Farm Aid and your inspiring music. Help your fellow Hoosiers change Washington. Barack Obama is listening, really listening to all of us. Over 1.3 Million individual voters in this country have donated to his campaign. Each of us feel our $5 or $10 has real purpose, that we own a little piece of the change that will come in January. The new democrats and first-time voter numbers are staggering. I helped sign up voters in Morgan County and was thrilled at meeting them. They are excited and ready to help bring change. Each Obama supporter has a different story to tell. Lucky for them, Obama will listen. Please help us by endorsing a man who can be trusted to work for all of us.

It warms my heart to know that my favorite musician also represents my hopes and dreams for a better place for my children to grow up. Continue to speak for those of us who do not have the stage to get our voices heard!

Barack Obama's campaign includes the words, "If you want change, it begins with you." Sound familiar? My favorite quote of yours is one in the same, "If you want change, it starts with you." I am one of your biggest fans. I know your music, for it is a philosophy by which I live my life every day. Barack Obama stands for something and he is unwilling to fall for anything. He speaks for the common man and the injustice and inequality in our society, just as you do in your music. Barack Obama unites, inspires, and gives hope to our society. Just as you do with your words and music. Barack Obama sees the world through honest eyes, just as you do. He believes he can make a difference in this world, and he believes that change starts with me, with you, and with every member of society tired of the lies, tired of the Rodeo Clown politics. Barack Obama believes that Someday is NOW! Please endorse Barack Obama for President of the United States.

Sen. Obama is an obvious threat to the other two candidates for good reason-he's challenging the status quo!!! Anyone willing to stand up for the people of America is better than the false promises of Sen. and Sen. McCain. What bothers me most about Sen. Clinton is that she associates herself with everything positive with the Clinton presidency (the economy) yet denies involvement with what was wrong (Bosnia, NAFTA). Her solutions seem like a magic potion full of smoke. America NEEDS CHANGE desperately, and its worth letting Sen. Obama prove himself.

We all need to work together to help get Obama elected. This beautiful country that we all love so much will not survive a McCain or a Clinton. Obama cares about this country and all of its people. People all over the world recognize this. Won't you please do your part and speak out? Please support Obama. A chance like this comes around once in a lifetime. I'm doing all I can to make it happen. You should too.

Clinton says a win is a win...True, Obama is leading in delegate count and this is a delegate race. So even if he ends up with one delegate ahead, it will still be a win. Who says Obama can't win the big states once he is the nominee? He will carry New York, California etc!!! Go Obama Go!!

Dear John, Thank you so much for your support for the Democratic Party. Your endorsement of Obama is much needed to help us win Indiana. I know you are trying to be supportive to both canidates but I feel that Obama well best represent the American people for the next 4 or 8 years.

I'm writing/signing this petition to ask you to endorse Sen. Obama for President of the United States. As a fellow Hoosier, the values we hold dear include trust, responsibility, and unfeigned service to fellow man...otherwise known as 'Hoosier Hospitality'. Sen. Obama has shown to be the candidate who holds these same values in high esteem. It has been expressed through his words and actions. His biography shows that 'to whom much is given, much is required'. Sen. Obama utilized his success as an accomplished lawyer to 'give back' to the less fortunate when others would've 'cash in' on the extra-ordinary achievements. Sen. Obama offers practical, not political solutions to the problems that faces the nation. He possesses the judgment to lead the U.S. at this pivotal time in history. He understands that BOTH Republicans and Democrats must be able to work together for the good of the American People. BOTH parties must stop political posturing while Americans are suffering. Sen. Obama has demonstrated the ability to work w/ members of the Republican Party, yes even with the honourable Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana, on foreign policy legislation. It's time to turn the page and write a new chapter in american history that PUTS THE AMERICAN PEOPLE BEFORE POLITICS. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider my request regarding the endorsement of Senator Barack Obama.
