Justice for Hunter - killed by a no kill shelter

A no kill shelter in the Yukon decided ( though the board administrator voted against it ) to euthanise, rather than operate on a young pit/lab cross.

The dog had been brought to the shelter after he randomly bit someone. Upon further investigation it was found that the dog "Hunter" had what appeared to be a cancerous tumour in his mouth, under his tongue which would explain the unprovoked biting, and random bleeding from his mouth.

Gerry Steers decided that Hunter was not worthy of the operation, second chance, or common courtesy as a sentient being. He ordered the dog be destroyed.

Below is a link to the article, and a link to the petition site to ask that Mr.Steers seek employment elsewhere, as his intentions and representation of "no kill" shelters seem to be confused.

"mae bachur animal shelter"
We the undersigned are asking for the resignation of Gerry Steers of "mae bachur animal shelter". You represent a NO KILL shelter and did not abide by your claim. Hunter, the young lab/pitbull mix who required surgery to remove a tumour from under his tongue, was killed. This was your decision. He was deemed "not adoptable" because of it.
Seems your "no kill" policy only applies to animals that come in perfect condition to you.

We the undersigned are not pleased by this, and feel that a "no kill" shelter should be just that, providing the dog is "unfixable" or dying. We also feel your job position would be best run by someone else. We request your resignation.
