We have started this petition to PRESERVE CLANA's LOVE STORY from being diminished, ignored or ruined if Smallville insists on continuing on without Clark & Lana at its heart.
Clana's Love Story is so precious because it portrays the greatest human experience; True Love. As fans of this love we want to see it preserved by Smallville and respected by DC Comics in the future.
To us, CLANA is and will always be the heart of Smallville. In this universe, Lana is at the center of Clark's life and she inspired the man he will become. In this universe, Clark crossed the stars to be with Lana and he lived to love and protect her.
Smallville has wonderfully re-imagined the Superman mythos by revealing the human heart of this alien hero, and brought Lana into a new light entwining her destiny with the superhero journey.
From the very start destiny brought them together. Clark is saved from the fate of his doomed planet and is sent to Earth in a meteor shower. Lana and Clark become orphans and bound forever.
Being destined to save mankind, Clark struggles with his alien origins, grows up to accept and master his powers to protect his new home and the people he loves. Our petition is based on the Kawatche Caves because they are a sacred landmark that preserved into and upon their walls what was written in the stars for our beloved couple.
It was fate that brought Lana and Clark to live and grow up in the same town. The founder of Smallville, Ezra Small, is no other than Lana's ancestor and the one to discover the Kawatche Caves. Ezra was known for his ability to see the future; he left an encoded dairy of his prophecies about Smallville's future and an alien boy raised by humans. Fate intervenes again, when Henry Small, Lana's biological father, helps to save the precious caves from being demolished by LuthorCorp.
The Kawatche Caves represent Clark's heritage; his past as well as his future and Lana's destined role in it. The writings & paintings on the walls slowly reveal the secrets kept hidden about the last son of Krypton and the girl that will share his quest to self discovery.
Both Clark and Lana are marked with 2 important Krytonian symbols. The "air symbol" -the house of EL crest- is branded on Clark's chest, and the "water symbol" -a warrior princess' crest- is transferred onto Lana's back.
Destiny seems to always bring Clark and Lana back to each other! The manifestation of the "water symbol" on Lana's skin brings her back to Smallville to uncover the mystery of its appearance. Meanwhile, Clark comes close to uncovering the secret of the Caves' glyphs. Their common search for the significance of the symbols, lead them to meet again in the Kawatche Caves. The two will be spirited away on a mystical adventure on the other side of the planet to hunt for the last Kryptonian element.
Under Isobel's influence and her quest for the Stones of Knowledge, Lana gets hold of the main element -Air- and entrust it to Clark right before the fall of the second meteor shower. Eventually, Clark assembles the 3 elements/stones in the Caves where they meld into a five-sided crystal -The Crystal of Knowledge; the key to unlocking the Fortress of Solitude. Thus, unfolding the mystery of his heritage.

P.S. Claiming what is most precious to us fans - Clark and Lana, therefore, preserving Clana's Love Story, like we naturally preserve Earth/Historical Heritage Sites, is what naturally came to mind; hence the symbolism of the "Kawatche Caves" for this petition.
I think this may be our last chance to get our message across to the show formerly known as Smallville. Now that we know there will be a season 10. I hope, beyond hope, that in that time, when you finally realize and honoru what truely made this show important and unique and save Clark and Lana's love for the end of the series. No one deserves a chance to finally be together in the end like they do. Since the "Pilot", we have grown up with the boy who lived and loved in Smallville. His relationships were what give this series something so much more depth, warmth, and postivitity. With his parents, his friends, even his rivals, he learned so much and made the world a safer place for them. But girl next door, Lana Lang; the one he loved the most, who he sacrificed and struggled so much to be with, who he changed so much since the day he arrived on Earth and who he never gave up on. This person is the one who has been forsaken and forgotten by the series. Kept away and forced apart from Clark, so he can be with a woman that doesn't deserve him and who has been given everything so easy. Seeing Lana's suffering and sacrifices for all these years and to not see her saved from the Kryptonite that is keeping her and Clark apart, is beyond tragic, because you weren't even able to break them up, we have to wait and see, hoping against a mythos that has never dared to be different, that maybe Lana can be purified, like her necklace was all those year ago. It only took 2 season for that to happen. I pray that is all it will take 1 more year for her to be with Clark again. She was and still for many of us the heart of the show that has been pulled out and thrown away in favour of an artificial heart. Clana fan have always been there, supporting this show, in the worst of times and the best of times because we have seen the magic that was Clark and Lana and the chemisty that Kristin and Tom had. There is a reason the creators of the show, put their faith in these two and trusted them to carry this show for all those seasons. They became iconic and real all their own, without a mythos forcing them together and expecting everyone to believe. We believed because we saw it grow and flourish into something so beautiful. Please preserve that beauty and bring back the Smallville that was.

The Clark/Lana storyline is what I enjoyed most about my recent viewing of Smallville for the first time on DVD thru Season 8. Great ride! Would love to see KK return to the show.
I suggest you helping me to mobilize all the fans of the clana through a petition to impose the return of the clana if there is a season 10! For me, smallville begin with the clana and he has to finish with the clana what is logical meme if clark has to finish with lois! Moreover, the producers contributed to several changes with regard to comics. Indeed, johnatahan does not die in lois and clark then kil dies in smallville. Then, lana and clark is not supposed to have of sexual relations while it is the case in smallville! What I want to say it is whom we are in 21th century and whom the producers need to bring innovations (modify the myth the couple clark and lois) to get back his(her) big fans to improve the audiences which is do to meet the expectations of fans. So, I wait for your answer, the future of the clana depends on us! Not oversights(forgetting) not that this couple was how nominated + beautiful couple of time!

I know that in the comic books clark belongs with lois but the show is obviously alot different from the comics and in the shoe clark belongs with lana forever and always. I don't have much to add, everyone has already expressed it beautifully. I liked Smallville for the overall story of Clark becoming Superman but I LOVED it for Clana. I haven't had the heart to tune in much since Kristin Kreuk left and the parts I have seen have not impressed me. The show just seems so artificial and soulless now. Like it just gave in because some fans were claiming that Clark and Lois HAD to be together because of the comics. Clana was without a doubt the heart of the show and it's most touching aspect. Without them, something is just missing. It was a beautiful story that was developed over 8 years. They made us happy and sad, made us laugh and cry. They proved time and time again how far they were willing to go to come back to each other and they always overcame the odds. Lana touched us with her beautiful soul and bravery and her devotion to Clark, and Clark moved us with his absolute love for Lana where he would have given up anything to keep her safe and to be with her. The pain on their faces in requiem when they could not be together simply killed me. They have been through so much together, have saved each other and sacrificed for each other time and time again. Lana is the true love of Clark's life in Smallville, there can be no doubt about that. They are the beautiful story that was told throughout the 8 best years of the show and they will remain the ultimate love story in Smallville. Lana knows what kind of man Clark can be, she sees it in him and encourages him to be the hero she knows he is. Lana makes Clark the man he is today. And Clark for his part showed repeatedly that he would give up anything for Lana. Anytime they needed each other, the other was there. Their connection is so pure and so deep, and it is the clearest example of pure love that I have seen on TV in a while in a new era where characters on TV shows jump from partner to partner every other episode. Clark and Lana are soul mates. They have a connection that cannot be touched or broken by anyone. Clois's connection is completely shallow compared to the deep love Clana. Clark's feelings on Lana vs. Lois were made clear when Lana returned in season 8. He was about to kiss Lois and the moment Lana walked in, he completely forgot Lois was even there. He fell straight back into Lana's arms because his true love had returned. He didn't spare Lois a second thought. And even when he knew it would kill him he still kissed Lana and asked her to stay in his life despite the fact that she was full of Kryptonite that is lethal to him. They have one of the greatest love stories of all time and I hope you will continue to respect them and not destroy their love or brush their history aside. Despite what comics say Clois will never compare to Clana in Smallville because Clana had 8 years of the most beautiful love story. And I hope one day in the DC Comics we will see Clark and Lana reunited. They have an epic love and they deserve to find their way back to each other.
Lana was the heart of smallville. She kept us interested, she was the most amazing character that we saw develop through kristin's beautiful acting skills..we saw clana come together. We saw their chemistry for 8years, and we could feel their passion. Please dont take that away from us after building it so strong over the years. If this was the plan, why make us love them so much. The show would be amazing if lana returned. Lois does not have the energy, the morals, the beautiful soulful personality that lana has. She reached out to the softer parts within us, she amazed us with her beauty, her intellect and her sacrifices. Her character deserves to be on the show, shes the real superhero who needs her clark back. Please give us our hope back
Clana are the soul of smallville. So many of us were warmed by the way they came back to eachother. By their love, their true passion for each other...i have been amazed at how the writers brought them back together again and again no matter how far they went from eachother. I liked the series for its creativity but loved it because of clana. We felt happy when they were happy, when they found their way towards eachotherkept getting back together and now all of a sudden, with lana gone...things seem so empty, so pointless...clark lacks the warmth, the series feel void and its become like one of those tv series that one doesnt mind missing here and there. Clana were the soul of smallville. Please revive their relationship, clois is so artificial, so lacking in essence. You need to spread the message of true love, clarks true love, lana...you have to show that there is hope, that true love not just exists but can be attained and kept for life. Please bring the soul of smallville back, please!

How sweet are Clark and Lana and how amazing is their love story. I never imagined that one day I'll be so irresistibly captivated by a TV couple, and what a couple! What a charismatic chemistry! _Clark and Lana are the main reason that kept me watching all these years despite the fact that I’m a Superman fan. During all these years, and even after Requiem, I kept a strong hope in my heart that these two will meet again and live a real couple life because they truthfully deserve it. _I will always hold onto hope, the way Clark and Lana held onto hope throughout the challenges they have been through. _It is crazy to split such an beautiful couple just for the sake of the old comics. _The World is evolving every day. I hope that "DC Comics" evolves too and acts wisely for the sake of true love and sacrifice, for the sake of the values that a hero like Superman should transmit to his fans. _From the very start, Smallville is an Elseworld on this TV series, and should have been an Elseworld until the very end. Why not Superman and Lana Lang? _If the responsible of the show are afraid to break the rules, they should at least & no matter what, preserve & protect Clark and Lana's love story (IT IS A WHOLE JOURNEY OF TRUE LOVE!), respect the fans that love them, and respect their own creation. Love is indestructible; it is a flame that cannot be tamed. Love Clark and Lana, now, and always. Bless those who protect love because life will reward them.

This is so beautiful. It made me cry, cause it's so true. Clark and Lana deserves to be together. I don't know if in Smallville, cause Lois and Clark are already in a relationship that I doubt it will go wrong from now on. But maybe, this beautiful words will reach out for DC Comics editors, and someday it may help Clark and Lana to actually BE together in the comics. I hope to see that happen in a near future. Dear Producers and Writers, I hadn't seen Smallville for quite some time but a friend of mine was watching it and I suddenly remembered the days that I was hooked to Smallville. So I started to watch the show again from the beginning. Then I realized that the reason why I was hooked to Smallville was because of the connection between Clark and Lana. Straight from the beginning there was this bond between them and no matter what roadblocks were put on their path they always came back to each other. You the writers and producers have created this great love story so it is very difficult to comprehend that now you do not acknowledge the Clark and Lana history. Especially after the episodes "Power" and "Requiem" in which you showed us their strenght, Love, connection, and especially the bond they share, you have to preserve the Clana history. Lana is a big part of the man that Clark became, even though at this moment I find him to serious for his own good. He is missing something positive in his life. I know the comic books tell us that this positive influence has to be Lois but I am sorry we are not talking about Superman we are talking about Smallville and in Smallville the postive and supportive influence is Lana Lang for Clark. Remember the sportive words she said to Clark in Legion "The Clark I know would never doubt himself, he would never waver. He would insist that he could save Chloe's life and the rest of the world" That is why it is also very difficult to accept that he never thinks or talks about her anymore when she was such a big part of his life. (The life that you created). So please acknowledge and preserve Clana's Love!! Before I finish this there is just one more thing I would like to say and that is: please bring Lana back for the series finale since she belongs in Clarks life in Smallville.

Dear Writers/Producers - dear Mr. Tom Welling, I thought about my post here for a very, very long time. I wrote several times, yet I can't find the right words to nail what most fans worldwide feel, but I hope I at least would be able to convey some of these feelings, maybe you will relate to them one day! Though you did not hide your intentions of a new twist and story to tell since last season, it is hard to relate to the new show under the same title and not feel that you have changed and actually tarnished and threw away everything happened the past eight years and built for this season. Honestly, if it wasn't for the past eight years, I, and many others can hardly be convinced that the show airing now would be on air! It is true that life goes on, people MIGHT change but it is their past that set the motion for them and shape who they are in the future. NO ONE can EVER forget their past even if they really want to, much less a person whose past consisted of nothing but love, support and guidance as Clark's was... because if they do, they might as well forget their identity it was stated that it is different than what was given in the past, but that is not even close to what is happening right now... seriously, this is a tarnishing of those who carried the torch for his journey, those who have given their lives and happiness just for him to embrace both his alien and human side.... is that how you want us to see Clark Kent? someone to tarnish, ignore and disrespect all the sacrifices given to him to only be cold, selfish and heartless and focus on one person and it would be okay to do so? Is this message you are asking as to follow and take our ideal from? And if so, why would it be with anyone other than Lana? The girl who had sacrificed a lot, she has been tackled down, manipulated, tortured and sacrificed more than once for Clark and his secret and origins. She was the only character to have gone through hell and back for him. And at the end, she put Clark and the world before her and her feelings and dreams to be with him for what? Only for him to be a jerk and move on someone who would never EVER be able to know and read him just as Lana did, and we have seen this in THIS season and the last one too... no words were needed to tell us that any other woman would never ever come close to what Lana saw and related to Clark!!! It is because she would not allow him to neglect his powers to do so or his humanity just for her sake and believe it is out of love... because she wants him to be the hero and the committed lover at night in the confines of their love... at least back at that time, he did not lose himself to darkness, because we KNOW that Lana would take a note that he is not the sweet Clark whose humanity led him to be the hero! She would put him back on track and we have seen many proves of how she would, we were not told that she is strong and powerful, we have seen through deeds how she took it upon herself to make Clark accept himself and his abilities and be loved all at once! That what would Lana do.... So tell us again how can we look up at someone, who tossed away that sacrifice for nothing and for no aim? Why would we even regard his promises to other women if he couldn't with the one that YOU convinced us is the love of his life? What message are you trying to convey here? Why do you destroy something as beautiful and just as right that YOU invested and wrote delicately for so many years, heck you even nailed it every season only to rip, kill, tarnish and degrade all together? What is the lesson delivered here? You shattered the noble message of love, faith and sacrifice, fight for something worth it is. You killed every message of hope to finally be where you always wanted to be just because it is not written in some book, comics at that? Is this the message you are trying to make us see and realize? If so, then what is SUPERMAN? What kind of hero he is if he can't and couldn't appreciate what Lana and his family, Pete and some of those who truly love him gave for him? What lead is he giving us if he can't hold on to them and the promises he made for them, especially LANA? What kind of a SUPER hero are you trying to mold here? Clark loved Lana all his life as she did him, even though he did it way before her. So to actually show that he is jumping in with another is really not convincing. The damage, as you might see it, is done, if anything, CLANA proved, in THIS season ALONE that they are the TRUEST and the MOST needed and healthiest relation in the show. Ironically this season served to nail this idea and image even more any of the earlier seasons showed. Others can never replace that... however, all we ask is to not degrade it because this will not only destroy the show's originality, but it will destroy the image of the hero even in the comics forever! God forbid that we want Lana to be back to see how screwed Clark is and how much he changed, even though, you CAN bring her and end the show with a happy CLANA note, but that is not our intention in this petition. NO, all we ask for is to appreciate what CLANA did and how their story contributed to shaping Clark into the man he is... is that too much to ask Whether you want to acknowledge this or not, Clana and their fans sustained the show, and it really hurts to not only see that you could care less simply because CLANA is ripped off and away in the show and is not written in the comics yet, but hating them and ridiculing them is allowed due to the way you are carrying on with the show! And that really pains us because it also based on the most popular hero to look up to! Please Preserve CLANA's Love. Thank you.

Dear Tom Welling... I wonder where the character you have played for 8 years has been hiding. Where have you been Clark? When will you come back? This smallville without you isn’t the same anymore. I don’t recognize these people. I do not see the warm and familiar faces I used to love when I would glue on my TV waiting impatiently for the show to show up. I haven’t even seen the light and sparkling in your eyes, Clark. The eyes that were full of spirit, hope, passion, and love. Those eyes are now dark, gloomy, dead and sad. Isn’t it irony when you are already with the one people are gushing to be your “one” but you look this forced? Even when you smile, it was so forced. I also can’t believe that Clark would easily give up on someone, Lana, especially when he knew she’s the love of his life. The Clark that I used to love would never do that. Clark that I used to love would never waver and find the cure for Lana not just becoz she's the love of his life but becoz he knew Lana had sacrificed everything for him. Mr. Welling, I know you do realize that Lana Lang played a very important role in Smallville and clark's life. I have never seen other female protagonistic character having been through a lot in her life like what Lana had. She’s the one who suffered the most just becoz she loved this man “Clark” the most. Mr. Welling my dear, you should have known too that if Clana weren’t supposed to be the “Heart of the Show” and the main love theme, then why built such a beautiful and unforgettable epic love story? My mind nor my heart can digest this. This is like telling the viewers that no matter how hard you try to get toghether with the one you love the most, it would be futile. Smallville is supposed to be a show of a hope. Mr. Welling, you do also know that Lana Lang is the half of Clark Kent. You even said, “In Smallville world, Lana Lang is probably the only one who can accept Clark for he is”. Where are those words now? We have been fed with those beautiful lines about Clana believable ship and now that you’re rubbing them on our face like they never existed really hurt us. We’re hoping that at least Clark Kent was shown to try to find the cure for Lana as he promised. What a Hero without keeping his promise especially to the one he loved and saved his life more than once? He owed that to Lana Lang. Or are we supposed to believe that he had done it OFFSCREEN...just like what Clark felt for lois when suddenly clark is all over lois this season?
Dear SV writers, dear TOM WELLING, we are a group of students of a Liceo of Arts in Italy who are studying the new models, values and messages conveyed by modern TV Shows, especially those for young people. We have watched all the seasons of Smallville so far, and our teacher of English has provided us with a very interesting text analysis of each Season. We all have become addicted to this Show, but we can’t help noticing something wrong with this season 9. Of course it’s our opinion, but we think that the “Smallville” we watched from season 1 to 8 (till Lana left) doesn’t agree with Smallville season 9 and maybe 10, in terms of coherence and consistency. As young people who STILL like to believe in strong moral values, HOPE, and TRUE LOVE, we are very disappointed with Clark’s behavior since the day Lana left. Clark and Lois’ relationship is really “forced” in this Show. We know it is well-established in the Comics, and in Superman mythology, but SMALLVILLE IS DIFFERENT, because YOU have made it different!!! In this different universe you have created, Clark and Lois’ romantic relationship is completely OUT OF PLACE. Clark and Lana’s love is of a kind we all dream about! Their extraordinary complicity and simplicity, together with a strong passion and intensity of emotions have made of this couple an example of PURE LOVE, HEROIC LOVE we’ll never forget. We know what your intention was since the beginning, but what’s wrong in changing direction to reach a better final product? Please close this successful Series with Clark and Lana together. Dear SV Producers, as you can see with this Petition not all the fans have been waiting for Clark and Lois to get together! On the contrary, there are millions of fans who watched the Show in the previous seasons, and got involved because of Clark and Lana! If you wanted to follow the comics, why did you spend 7 years showing Clark so in love with Lana? You surely didn’t tell a high-school crush or a mere friendship! When you realized the success of these two actors’ chemistry (Tom and Kristin), why didn’t you think about the Mythos then! After 7 years of intense love, we were so confused about the day you would have showed Clark in love with Lois, and now that you are telling it, this “iconic” love looks so weak, so shallow, so pale and “forced” compared to Clark and Lana’s history together and their unconditional love! If you have another season, then you have enough time to think about a proper conclusion which will make us, real long-time fans of Smallville, happy.
Dear Tom, didn’t you say once that you wanted to go on with this Show provided the writers wrote a growth and progression of your character? You also said another time that you wanted your character to be credible and consistent. Unfortunately neither of them is happening now, after Lana went. Clark has turned into a shallow man who pines for a girl he’s never loved before. Was it all a giant LIE ? all the love he felt for Lana since he was a child? Is he maybe an alien without heart? If they want to give credibility and some logic to the story, then they should also explain why Clark is doing nothing to find a way to free Lana from kryptonite, after he risked his life just to kiss her one last time in Requiem! Is it credible to show 7 years of LOVE and PASSION, and then close this chapter putting a picture in a scrapbook and closing it forever? I know you don’t write your stories, and these stories refer back to a 70-year-old comic book, but now, as E.P., and main character of the Show, why don’t you tell TPTB that maybe it’s time for a change?! Why don’t you tell them that many fans liked this Show because it was different from the Mythos? Some people like me even forgot it was about the “one-day-to-become-Superman”! And I’ve never missed an episode, until Requiem aired. You told a marvelous story with action, feelings, emotions and strong moral values, and Clark and Lana’s love was the pole of attraction for many fans. Please, think about a better conclusion than the Comics; think about Clark and Lana together for the Series Finale!
My wife and I met because of Clana. Clana is the center of the Smallville universe and they are idea for the Superman mythos.
The best things in life are sometimes the simplest, the most spontaneous ones. Clark and Lana didn’t need “lightswitches”; they didn’t need other people tell them they were a great couple. They actually were! They didn’t need to take off their clothes to show they had a strong desire and they wanted each other. They didn’t wait about four years, ignoring each other for most of the time, before suddenly realizing they were so much in love. Clark and Lana’s attraction was immediate, since they were children, and then growing up, it became stronger and stronger, despite misfortunes, and above all despite the so strong MYTHOS, which haunted them since the beginning. This is what I call “soul-mates” and “special chemistry”, and no one else but Clark and Lana, Tom and Kristin have it. But in the end I’ve learnt my lesson: I’ll never watch again a story based on a long-time comic book, because I’m afraid you, writers and producers, won’t have the courage to change an old mythology in favor of a new, better original version of the story, supported by evidence and years of success.
To SMALLVILLE PRODUCTION: since we can not break this bond with this Show we started watching in 2001, even if we don’t recognize it anymore, and most of the original cast which made the success of it is gone, we just hope you have some consideration for us loyal fans since the beginning, and not just the new-comers who haven’t lived all the angst, emotions, relationships you gradually developed in the past seasons. Kristin Kreuk and Tom Welling have really made the difference! They have made this show successful, and what we ask you is to try to bring Kristin back for the Series Finale. We don’t want Lana to come back to see Clark with Lois, and accept it as “destiny” or “canon”. That would be cruel, unnatural, and unacceptable! We just ask you that, no matter what you do (and did) in this season 9 and maybe 10, the last scene of this show should be with Clark and Lana reunited, in love, and happily together, the only real romantic couple of the show!

Thanks to your professional skills and the masterpiece of your unique chemistry, everything was so clear, so immediate; no misunderstandings, no doubts about this great fictional love story you created. Now, without Lana, we really don’t recognize the Clark we loved and looked up as a model. He has moved on to Lois so quickly and has never mentioned Lana again. He has forgotten about her sacrifice, and he hasn’t even tried to find a “cure” for her. Even if it’s a fictional story, this is so absurd and a negative message as well. What is more reassuring and important, among many uncertainties and bad things, than the triumph of the real values of life? TRUE LOVE, SACRIFICE, COURAGE, PEACE and HAPPINESS? CLARK AND LANA embody all this….and we would like to see that on TV. At least for the Series Finale, bring them back together! PLEASEEEEE!!!
I started watching smallville solely for the purpose that i could relate so well to clark. He loved lana so much and he could never have her. Now I've felt the same sorrow he's felt and it just wouldnt be right, whether he is real or not, whether tradition beckons him to be with lois or not, if clark were not reunited with lana!

You made many young people dream about TRUE LOVE, you made us reflect that even if there are difficulties, problems, obstacles, we can overcome everything in the name of love. And LOVE MUST WIN in the end! If Clark loses Lana forever, Lex, who represents hate and evil, wins; and this is not a nice ending at all! After what we saw in the past 8 years of the show, we can not see Clark with anyone else than Lana, not even the most “iconic” character! I don’t consider myself as a crazy fan, who wants to start a “battle” between “romantic ships” just here, but it’s so obvious that Clark and Lana’s love is the real essence of Smallville and made the success of it. Producers and Powers that be have already showed their innovative vein and their open-mind in the initial conception and perspective of Superman Mythology. They made some changes, even in fictional time, introduced new characters (Chloe), gave to the “iconic” characters a new dimension and personality (Lex Luthor, Lana Lang, Lionel Luthor, for ex.); they have created another Universe, parallel to the original one, but quite different and autonomous. Now the Producers want to align to the Mythos, but they don’t understand that it is its being different that made the success of the Series! “Clark and Lana” is Love...pure and simple. It is a beautiful story that both Tom and Kristin solidified with their amazing portrayal of these two young lovers. In many instances their characters didn't have to say a word and WE fans could feel what these two characters were going through. Whenever they appeared on OUR tv-screen, our hearts would race in anticipation... We were captivated by these two fictional characters and their story. So of course…seeing something that gave US So Much excitement, happiness and pleasure…be unjustly pushed aside and ignored…causes US so MUCH sadness and pain. I must admit it: I started watching Smallville by chance and with a little enthusiasm, because I thought it was one of the many versions of Superman mythology, whose dynamics and ending I already knew. But watching the Pilot and the first episodes I was immediately hooked by the mesmerizing chemistry between Clark and Lana. Their relationship was supposed to represent a high school crush, important, but bound to finish with Clark’s maturity. It was part of Clark’s personal growth, his human side straggling with the self-awareness of his powers and his role in the human world. Day by day, year by year, episode by episode, Clark and Lana’s love grew more and more; it was pure, innocent, very special and rare. Thanks to the actors’ ability and unique chemistry, we were conquered by their longing stares, loving hugs, passionate kisses, and beautiful moments. Even when “misfortunes” came (betrayals, separations, marriage with Lex, dark periods, etc.) we could perceive a strong connection between them; we could see an intense desire in their eyes, and we could read “LOVE” between the lines. Of course Smallville is about Clark’s journey toward Superman, with action, villains, challenges, battles, heroic gestures, but as far as romantic element is concerned, nothing can compare to this story you have told. Kristin and Tom have left a deep mark on this Series, which will be difficult to forget.
