Keep Call Centers in Massachusetts

We, the undersigned, call upon our legislative leaders to protect Massachusetts jobs and residents by passing bills H03047 and SO1670 which require any utility serving Massachusetts residents to maintain a customer call center in the State of Massachusetts.

With increasing frequency, we hear of call centers closing and customer calls being transferred to other states or countries as a cost-saving measure.  We believe utility calls, which tend to be address specific, should not be transferred to an area that is unfamiliar with our State.  This could slow response time not only for routine questions, but  also for emergency power outages and natural gas odor emergencies.  This is potentially dangerous and life threatening.

Tell Massachusetts utilities that the safety and well-being of Massachusetts residents, property, and jobs are more important than shareholder's dividends.
